Weeks of rumors regarding a pending college announcement by five-star small forward Josh Jackson came to an end on Monday night when the Detroit native announced via Twitter that he will be attending Kansas in the fall. His final three schools of consideration were the Arizona Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks and the Michigan State Spartans.
For a while, his friendship with MSU commit Miles Bridges, a fellow Michigan native, made Tom Izzo’s in-state program the front runner in the eyes of many. Nonetheless, being that he played in the USA Basketball U19 national team that traveled to Greece last summer and that was coached by Arizona’s Sean Miller, where he had apparently built up a pretty good relationship with the coach, the Wildcats always seemed like a realistic option as well. But Bill Self’s recruiting abilities always made him the dark horse in the race and chatter that the blue-chipper might be leaning toward the program started picking up in recent weeks.
In the end, a simple tweet put all the speculation to rest. Bill Self did it again. The Detroit native starred at local Consortium High his first two years of high school ball before deciding to move to the west coast to attend Justin Siena while hooping for basketball academy Prolific Prep.
