One of the most dynamic scorers in college basketball will miss the next two weeks of action. Tyler Haws—BYU’s star guard who is averaging 23.8 points per game for the best scoring offense in America—sprained his ankle during the Cougars’ 76-60 win over Weber State on Saturday. If he is out for two weeks, then the nation’s third-leading scorer will miss BYU’s game against No. 8 Gonzaga. However, coach Dave Rose said that Haws could come back before then and that doctors “didn’t want to put a set timeline on his return.”
From ESPN:
BYU coach Dave Rose said Monday that Tyler Haws is out with a bad sprain of his left ankle and he hopes that he will be healthy in time for the WCC opener against Gonzaga on Dec. 27 at the Marriott Center.
Haws injured the ankle in a victory at Weber State on Saturday in which he scored 19 points in 31 minutes. The 6-foot-5 senior is averaging 23.8 points a game — third-best in the country — for the 8-3 Cougars.
The Cougars have four straight home games with Stanford, UMass, Gonzaga and Portland all at the Marriott Center in the next two weeks.
