If the handfuls of returning Lottery-level stars wasn’t enough, here’s news that will make the NCAA basketball scene even more bright in ’11-12.
Top recruit Andre Drummond announced Friday on Twitter that he will be playing for defending national champion Connecticut next season.
The 6-10, 275-pound center announced two weeks ago that he would attend prep school this season. Considered the top big man in the country, Drummond was suspected to skip the college ranks entirely to enter the 2012 NBA Draft (in which his stock couldn’t be much higher).
But the nation’s top big man apparently has experienced a sudden change of heart.
What does the addition of Drummond mean for the defending NCAA Champs? In addition to adding tremendous power and flexibility in the frontcourt, Drummond gives UConn a legit shot this season for another championship ring.
