Although All-Star weekend is a three day celebration—of players, the League, and the game we all love—that doesn’t mean some guys weren’t willing to stop the party for a bit to give back.
In that spirit, on Saturday afternoon following the Western Conference practice, in partnership with Special Olympics, Western Conference All-Star Tim Duncan, Hall of Famer Bill Walton, former NBA player and current NBA Cares ambassador Felipe Lopez and Los Angeles Sparks guard Ticha Penicheiro hosted more than 65 local Special Olympic athletes for a clinic at the 2010 NBA All-Star Jam Session. There were various skill stations set up for the athletes that focused on shooting, dribbling and passing; Special Olympics athletes also got a chance to play in some fun and exciting basketball games and relay races with their favorite NBA stars, all ending with the opportunity for autographs and photos.
