Many ingredients make up a great emcee. One must have charisma, credibility, style, versatility, a creative flow and most importantly, the ability to keep your fanbase on edge to see what you are going to do next. The rapper that used to be one demolishing every DJ Clue mixtape freestyle is now the man that everybody wants to have spit 16 on their songs. There really isn’t any beat that Fabolous can’t make sound better. His punch lines make listeners want to rewind the entire verse over again while saying, “did he really just say that?” After the success of his latest studio album Loso’s Way, Fab continued to give the streets more dope projects. The sequel to There Is No Competition, hosted by DJ Drama, took the streets by storm, and now Fab has blessed the game with his newest street release, The S.O.U.L. Tape.
Soul Tape features the likes of Trey Songz, Red Cafe, Lil Wayne, Freck Billionaire and Paul Cain. The title speaks for itself. Loso again uses his laid back, this-ain’t-sh*t-to-me flow on a mixture of unreleased tracks and freestyles that provides an hour of simply good music. The single that seems to be getting the most buzz is the track with Wayne, “That’s Not Love.” Personally, I’m not surprised at all. You put two lyrical geniuses like that together, something ridiculously ill is bound to happen. Part two to the new ladies anthem “You Be Killin’ ‘Em” serves as a bonus track on the mixtape as well.
S.O.U.L. Tape is a must have for all hip-hop fans. Fab is one of those artists that makes mixtapes better than most rappers’ albums. I’m pretty sure millions agree with me on that statement.
