The deal would keep Adams out of the restricted free agent pool next summer.
The 23-year-old big man is averaging 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds through two games so far this season.
Per Yahoo:
There’s no agreement yet, but both sides feel strong momentum toward a deal, league sources said.
The deal would cement Adams, 23, as a Thunder franchise cornerstone along with All-Star guard Russell Westbrook.
Before the NBA’s midnight ET deadline Tuesday for rookie contract extensions, the Thunder are still discussing a deal with guard Victor Oladipo — in the four-year, $80 million-plus range — and one with forward Andre Roberson, league sources told The Vertical. Those talks aren’t as close to completion as Adams’ negotiations, league sources said.
