Shabazz Muhammad Will Have Finger Surgery, Out for the Season

Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Shabazz Muhammad will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn ligament in his middle finger (shooting hand). It’s a tough break for Muhammad, who was having a much better second NBA season than his rookie campaign. He’s expected to miss eight weeks. From Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad will undergo surgery for a torn ligament in his middle finger and miss the rest of the season, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

 

The recovery period for the injury on his shooting hand is expected to be eight weeks, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

 

Muhammad, 22, has made significant strides in his second season for the Wolves, averaging 13.5 points and 4.1 rebounds.

 

He was the 14th overall pick out of UCLA in the 2013 NBA draft.
