According to a report from ESPN‘s Marc Stein, the Sixers have waived Gerald Wallace. Philly originally acquired Wallace this summer from the Warriors in exchange for Jason Thompson. It was Wallace’s second trade of the offseason—after finishing the year with Boston, the Celtics traded him to Golden State for David Lee.
Wallace, now 33, is a former All-Star, but you have to wonder what kind of future he has in the L at this point. More details:
The Philadelphia 76ers have waived veteran swingman Gerald Wallace, according to league sources.
Sources told ESPN.com that all 30 NBA teams were notified at 5 p.m. Saturday that the 76ers have released Wallace without ever using him in a game.
Wallace will become an unrestricted free agent Tuesday if he clears waivers.
