Miami Heat All-Star forward Chris Bosh was hospitalized Thursday following a meeting with a doctor, and there are now fears that Bosh could be done for the season due to blood clots in his lungs.
Bosh, 30, has been feeling ill since the NBA All-Star break according to teammate Dwyane Wade.
The Heat (22-30) are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, and made a splash at the trade deadline with the acquisition of guard Goran Dragic.
Per the Miami Herald and AP:
Bosh was admitted to a Miami-area hospital Thursday after meeting with a doctor. The Heat’s power forward underwent initial tests that proved inconclusive, according to the Heat. The fear is that Bosh could have blood clots on his lungs. If there is a pulmonary embolus, or multiple clots, then Bosh would be out for the remainder of the season, and possibly longer, while being treated with blood thinners for pulmonary embolism.
Bosh, 30, hasn’t felt well since earlier in the All-Star break, according Wade, who traveled to Haiti with Bosh on Monday during Carnival. Bosh and Wade were also together in New York for the All-Star Game.
Bosh was not feeling well and was sent home by the team from practice Wednesday. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said at Thursday afternoon’s practice, when Bosh was missing again, that he remained “under the weather” but offered no specifics on his condition. […] Bosh is averaging 21.1 points and 7.0 rebounds this season. He signed a five-year contract worth just over $118 million last summer, and played Sunday night in the All-Star Game in New York — his 10th appearance in the NBA’s showcase game.
