The arena formerly known as ARCO officially became Power Balance Pavilion today. The Sacramento Kings‘ partnership with the sports bracelet manufacturer includes a multi-year naming rights deal to feature the company’s moniker on the building the Kings call home.
However, the arena’s exterior remains nameless after construction crews worked to remove the old signs featuring the ARCO name from the building. With the Kings future in Sacramento still up in the air, Power Balance issued a statement addressing the status of their partnership with the Kings. Here is a portion of it.
“The arena naming rights was but one element of an innovative and broad partnership. While we will need to revisit the terms of the arrangement, there is every expectation that the partnership will continue even if the Kings were to relocate and we’re very excited about that. Ultimately, the deal was about aligning with a great brand for the benefit of our team, our fans and the community, not merely placing a name on a building. As such, Power Balance and our partners have mutually agreed to delay installing the new Power Balance sign on the arena until further notice.”
The building’s twitter account has yet to officially change its @arcoarena handle. However, there are now signs inside the arena featuring the Power Balance name.
