Free agent forward Michael Beasley has landed in Memphis. Beasley, the 25-year old former second overall draft pick, has accepted a non-guaranteed deal to join the Grizzlies.
SuperCool Beas will be fighting to make the roster during training camp starting next week. Per the Commercial Appeal:
Beasley, the No. 2 overall pick by the Miami Heat in 2008, was in town earlier this week playing pick-up games at FedExForum. Beasley, 25, spent the past few weeks working out for squads such as the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs, according to Yahoo Sports.
Teams have been reluctant to commit to Beasley because of his immaturity and off-the-court issues. Memphis has one open roster spot given it already has 14 guaranteed contracts for the season.
Beasley will compete with NBA journeymen Earl Clark and Hassan Whiteside, Luke Hancock, Kalin Lucas and Patrick Christopher when Griz camp begins Tuesday in San Diego.
