In case you somehow missed it, the WNBA season kicked off today with five games. The biggest news of the day for casual fans? Marion Jones, disgraced sprinter and convicted criminal, made her regular season WNBA debut, posting no stats in a little over three minutes of play. Her team, the Tulsa Shock, formerly the Detroit Shock, dropped a close game to the Minnesota Lynx. After being profiled in NYT’s Magazine, there was no guarantee that Jones was even going to make the final roster. She’ll remain one of the more interesting story lines in Tulsa this year, along with her coach, former NCAA champ Nolan Richardson.
