Kyle Singler Set to Begin NBA Career With Detroit Pistons

After getting drafted in the second round in 2011 and subsequently spending a season hooping in Spain, former Duke forward Kyle Singler will begin his NBA career this fall, when he laces ’em up for the Detroit Pistons. The Wilmington NC News has the report: “Two days after the NBA draft was completed, it appears as though the ACC’s 2012 rookie class is about to grow by one. The Detroit Pistons announced Friday that they’ve come to terms with former Duke star Kyle Singler, who played last season in Spain after being drafted in the second round by the NBA team in 2011. ‘We expect to sign Kyle Singler on July 11,’ Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said in a statement. ‘We look forward to having him with the Pistons this season.’ A 6-foot-8 forward who earned Most Outstanding Player honors in leading the Blue Devils to the 2012 national championship, Singler signed with the Spanish club Lucentum Alicante during the NBA lockout. He decided to stay in Spain even after the labor dispute was settled, signing a one-year deal with Real Madrid, where he averaged more than 14 points per game.”
