New York Knicks Sign Quentin Richardson For Remainder of Season

And the Knicks fondness for players in their, well, older years continues. The NY Daily News reports the team has signed 33-year-old guard Quentin Richardson for the remainder of the season: “With several of their injured big men expected to be back when the playoffs start Saturday, the Knicks added some perimeter help Tuesday by bringing back swingman Quentin Richardson. Richardson, who played for the Knicks from 2005-09, is playoff eligible after signing a contract for the remainder of this season. Richardson, 33, has not played in the NBA this year after averaging 4.5 points per game in 48 appearances in 2011-12 with Orlando. ‘I figured when we get some of our bigs back … it gives us one more perimeter guy that can defend a little bit, that can make shots and space the floor like we play,’ Mike Woodson said Tuesday during his weekly ESPN Radio spot. ‘I just think it adds to what we’re trying to do. We do have a lot of perimeter guys, but my thing has always been whoever plays, you’ve got to make the most out of your minutes. And if we get somebody in the game that’s struggling a little bit, then maybe I can turn to Quentin or turn to everybody else based on all the guys we’ve got to get it done. That’s the reason for bringing him to our ballclub.'”
