Amidst the blitz that is the trade deadline, the NBA released this statement on the Sacramento Kings:
“The Kings have requested an extension of the March 1 deadline to give Kings ownership the opportunity to discuss their options with their Board of Governors at its April 14-15 meeting. The Board is currently considering the Kings’ request.”
That meeting is well before the deadline for the Sacramento arena development team to complete their financial feasibility analysis. Local Sacramento developer David Taylor and Colorado arena builder ICON Venue Group were given 90-days by the Sacramento City Council earlier this month to assess the viability of a new arena.
The meeting is also after the last Kings home game of the season, which is April 13th versus the Los Angeles Lakers.
