Kevin Martin To Sign With Spurs

The Spurs have reached an agreement to sign free agent Kevin Martin, according to an ESPN report.

San Antonio will need to release a player to make room for Martin, with the most likely candidates being Rasual Butler and Matt Bonner, per the Express-News.

The 12-year vet is averaging 10.6 points while shooting a career-low 37.7 percent from the field.

More from ESPN:

Free-agent guard Kevin Martin has agreed to a deal to join the San Antonio Spurs, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Martin, who cleared waivers early Friday after negotiating a buyout earlier this week with the Minnesota Timberwolves, has chosen San Antonio after being pursued by a number of playoff-chasing teams, including the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks.

Other teams to pursue Martin, sources said, included Oklahoma City, Memphis and Washington.
