The Portland Trail Blazers announced Tuesday that recently-acquired swingman Gerald Henderson went under the knife to repair his left hip, and the 27-year-old should be ready for the start of training camp.

This is Henderson’s second hip surgery.
Henderson came over from the Charlotte Hornets this summer in the Nicolas Batum trade; he averaged 12.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in eighty games last season.
Per The Oregonian:
Henderson came to the Blazers in June in trade that sent forward Nicolas Batum to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Henderson and second-year forward Noah Vonleh.
This the second time Henderson has had surgery on left hip. He had a torn labrum in his left hip repaired while playing for Charlotte in May 2011.
“Gerald had some knee tendinitis issues this season, and the doctors have told us that fixing this congenital defect in his hip should alleviate those problems,” Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins said in statement released after the 2011 surgery. “The doctors also feel that addressing the hip issue now will help prevent the possibility of further damage in the future.”
