Last week we announced the opening of SLAM friends Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Couliau’s Doin’ It In The Park: Pick-Up Basketball, NYC, but unfortunately the outdoor event was rained out—which means that if you were going to miss out the first time, you’ve been given a second chance to screen the film! We previewed the movie last month, and now you have two opportunities over the next week to come out and see the entire thing in New York City.
The first screening is tomorrow (Wednesday) night at DeKalb Market in Brooklyn, NY (138 Willoughby Street at the corner of Flatbush Avenue). The full night of entertainment starts with a DJ set by Sucio Smash at 7 and then the movie will air at 8 pm. There will then be a Q&A with Bob & Kev afterwards. Admission is free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need more info you can check the event page on Facebook.
The second screening is Sunday, June 3 at the 14th Street YMCA—this time a private screening to help raise money for a new gym at the Y (between 1st and 2nd Ave). Showtime is 7 pm, with a Q&A to follow. Get your tickets for Sunday here, and remember, 100 percent of the proceeds go towards the Y’s fundraiser.
And as an added bonus, SLAM will be in the building at BOTH events giving out copies of our latest issue for free! Come watch the flick and talk hoops and SLAM with us. Hope to see you all there!
