David Lee played just 87 seconds in Thursday’s Game 6, but Warriors coach Mark Jackson said he could play Lee for a few minutes at a time during meaningful situations, depending on Lee’s pain threshold. From the Contra Costa Times: “So, does David Lee have more minutes left in him for the San Antonio Spurs? It’s possible, said Warriors coach Mark Jackson Friday, that Lee could take a more meaningful role beyond the inspirational one he gave in 1 and 1/2 minutes of Golden State’s Game 6 win over Denver Thursday night. If it eventuates, it may be only for a few minutes at a time, but even that could make a difference in a specific situational matchup. ‘It depends on how he’s feeling and what the doctors and training staff and everybody else says about it,’ Jackson said. ‘But he’s excited about it, and if he’s healthy, and he can give us something, I will certainly utilize those minutes properly.’ Jackson tempered his remarks by saying there shouldn’t be any undue expectations on the power forward, who tore a hip flexor muscle in Game 1 in Denver and was thought lost for the rest of the year. He doesn’t know what Lee can provide, but open to see. ‘Not really sure,’ the coach said. ‘I thought we got what we needed out of him (Thursday night) night. I was not going to put him in position where he could get hurt and I was not going to put a demand on his body. I thought it was a perfect time to get him in, utilize him and then get him out,’ Jackson continued. ‘I think what we will do is stay true to the process, see how his body is today and move him forward, continue to get him treatment and play it by ear. But there are no expectations about David’s role moving forward.'”
