Clippers Sign Brandon Bass to One-Year Deal

Free agent forward Brandon Bass is staying in Los Angeles, but switching teams.

The Clippers have inked the big fella to a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal.

The 31-year-old averaged 7.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Lakers last season.

Per the OC Register:

He played for Clippers coach Doc Rivers in Boston for two seasons.

Bass joins Marreese Speights and Raymond Felton as players Rivers has nabbed with veteran’s minimum deals, the only mechanism the team has to sign players without violating the NBA’s salary cap. […] The Clippers re-signed free agents Jamal Crawford, Austin Rivers, Wesley Johnson and Luc Mbah a Moute earlier this summer.

Speights and Bass will back up DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin, giving first-round pick Brice Johnson time to develop without immediately being thrust into the rotation.
