Chris Walker, a 2013 SLAM Second-Team All-American, has yet to finish the necessary classwork and, according to a report from CBSSports.com, cannot enroll at Florida until he does. Walker hopes to be cleared academically in December and should be back for SEC play: “McDonald’s All-American Chris Walker will not enroll at Florida this semester and won’t play for the Gators until at least December, a source told CBSSports.com on Tuesday. Fall classes began at Florida last Wednesday. The final day for Walker to enroll and play this semester was Tuesday. Walker is a consensus top-10 prospect from the Class of 2013 who has spent recent months taking three online classes in an attempt to meet the NCAA’s minimum requirement for freshman eligibility at the Division I level. Simply put, a source said, the 6-foot-9 forward is yet to finish the coursework and can’t enroll until he does. ‘But he’s close,’ a source said. ‘He should enroll and be eligible in December.’ A source told CBSSports.com that Walker’s new goal is to complete his coursework, submit it to the NCAA, get cleared academically and enroll at Florida in December. He could in theory be eligible to practice and play as soon as final exams are completed at Florida on Dec. 13. The Gators’ first game after that date is against Memphis in the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 17 at New York’s Madison Square Garden.”
