Rich Cho, the Blazers’ GM, tells the Oregonian that the Blazers are interested in Oberto but that a deal is nowhere close to being done: “The Trail Blazers’ revolving door of rumored big man targets now includes Fabricio Oberto, a 6-foot-10 Argentinian with five seasons of NBA experience. But reports suggesting that Oberto is weighing a contract offer from the Blazers are premature. Blazers general manager Rich Cho acknowledged that the Blazers have been in contact with Oberto — and a host of other centers — since Jeff Pendergraph was lost for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. But Cho also said the Blazers have not extended a formal contract offer to the one-time San Antonio Spurs forward. ‘I’ve asked about him, but we’re not close to doing anything,’ Cho said of Oberto.”
