The Warriors-Grizzlies have been intense and physical going into Game 3. Both Green and Dillon Brooks left Games 1 and 2 after being ejected due to committing Flagrant 2 fouls. Brooks’ foul led to Gary Payton II suffering a fractured left elbow that will keep him out of action for three weeks. Green got deeper into hot water with the League due to his double bird with Memphis fans.
Greens’ actions came as he was headed to the locker room to get a stitch on his bloody eye after being elbowed by Xavier Tillman while both big men battled for a loose ball.
“If you’re going to boo somebody who’s getting hit in the eye, (his) face running down blood, you should get flipped off,” Green said. ” So, I’ll take the fine. I’ll go do an appearance and make up the money. But it felt really good to flip them off. I could’ve had a concussion or anything. So if they’re gonna be that nasty, I can be nasty too. I’m assuming the cheers was because they knew I’d get fined.”
“Great, I make $25 million a year; I should be just fine.”
Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinal will be on Saturday in San Francisco.
The Warriors expected FedEx Forum to be a hostile environment in Game 2 — especially for Green. Every time he touched the ball, boos rained down. But, it’s that kind of energy, the team said, that he feeds off of.
