Bradley Beal On Contract Extension: ‘I Got Time, So I Kinda Hold the Cards Right Now’
Throughout his time in DC, one thing has been consistent for Washington Wizards shooting guard, Bradley Beal and that’s his loyalty to the franchise that has drafted him.
Although he mentioned in his past that he wants to stay in DC for the long hual, Beal seems to be in no rush to resign his contract with the Washington Wizards.
In an interview with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Beal discussed holding out before re-signing with the Wizards.
“I got time, so I kinda hold the cards right now. And one, I’ve never been in this position. I’m kinda embracing that, being able to kinda dictate how I want my future to be and where I want it to be,” Beal said on the Post podcast. ” “And at the same time, I’m not gonna make that grand commitment and it doesn’t work. Ultimately, you have to be selfish at some point and for probably the first time in my career, Year 10, I am. And so I’m kinda taking advantage of it in a way.
Beal has been open with his contract negotiation. Stating that he hopes to stay in Washington DC.
The Washington Wizards, who currently sit on a 500 record. And off to their best start since the season. They went out and built a solid core around the three-time all-star.
Beal has close to millions of reasons to resign with Washington Wizards. Wizards fans hope the franchise is able to keep him as the new offer is a four-year, $181.5 million extension. He could also wait until the offseason and sign a veteran max contract for five years and around $235 million.
