On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson was reportedly cleared to be a “full-time participant” in all of the team’s “future practices” according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The time frame could mean that Thompson’s return date might be one of the home games the week before Christmas on Dec. 20th against the Sacramento Kings or Dec. 23rd against the Memphis Grizzlies per Yahoo! Sports.
However, according to Mark Haynes, head coach Steve Kerr says that he “didn’t know where that came from.”

What is clear about Thompson’s return is that it will be his first game since he tore his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. After sitting out all of the following season, a torn right Achilles tendon prior to the 2020-21 season kept him out for yet another full season. As of this past weekend, it is coming up on 900 days since Klay Thompson has played an NBA game.
The Golden State Warriors improved their NBA-best record to 15-2 after beating the Toronto Raptors 119-104 on Sunday. They match up against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
