The New York Knicks announced that they have signed former Florida State guard M.J. Walker to a contract late last week for training camp. Details of the deal are uncertain but according to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz, it will reportedly be an Exhibit 10 contract.

The 6’5 Walker participated on the Knicks Summer League roster in Las Vegas with averages of 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds including a solid performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers. M.J. had a stat line of nine points, five rebounds, two steals and a block in a Knicks win on August 14th. All of his points came from behind the arc.
Walker played four seasons at Florida State University, averaging nine points, two rebounds and 1.6 assists in 120 games (82 starts). He averaged 12.2 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 24 games during his senior season and was named to the second-team All-ACC team.
The rumored Exhibit 10 contract gives the Knicks the option to change Walker’s current deal to a standard or two-way contract if he makes the team. If he is released, it leaves the possibility to earn a bonus worth up to $50,000 by joining the Westchester Knicks, the franchise’s G League affiliate.
Adding Walker will leave the Knicks with just one roster spot open for training camp.
