Elfrid Payton is one of the most underrated point guards in the entire NBA. For the past two seasons, he was a primary starter for the Knicks, providing solid production. Entering free agency this summer, Payton would get the chance to join a new team and provide value.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Payton has agreed to a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns. He will immediately make an impact in the 2021-22 season for the team.
Coming off of an NBA Finals run, Payton will provide much-needed guard depth for the Suns.
Last season in New York, the 27-year-old averaged 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest. He started in all 63 games he played in, but will likely come off the bench in Phoenix.
