Los Angeles Lakers guard Alex Caruso was arrested and released on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Texas A&M police as reported by ESPN.
Lt. Bobby Richardson of the Texas A&M Police Department explained that Caruso was boarding a flight at Easterwood Airport on Texas A&M property in College Station, Texas. It was then the Transportation and Security Administration searched and found a herb grinder that contained marijuana in Caruso’s luggage.
According to the arrest records, Caruso was arrested for possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. He was released after posting bond of $4,200 and paying a fine of $552.
Since signing with the Lakers in 2017, Alex Caruso has been a key member of the rotation coming off the bench the last four seasons. His averages of 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists have been complemented by underrated defense and timely playmaking in 58 games this past season.
In six games against the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2021 NBA playoffs, Caruso averaged 5.8 points in 20.2 minutes of action.
Caruso is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
