In a win against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, Russell Westbrook notched his 180th career triple-double, putting him one shy of tying Oscar Robertson for most all-time.
A record that was set 47 years ago, Westbrook will have a real shot at breaking it this season, followed by raising the bar even higher in future seasons.
With six games remaining in the regular season for the Wizards, each will give Westbrook an opportunity to set a new record. With one triple-double, he will tie the record while two more will give him sole possession. With three more, he will tie himself for most triple-doubles in a season while four will break his own record.
As it usually has throughout Westbrook’s career, his triple-doubles result in winning. As he’s increased his volume of this accomplishment recently, Washington has continued to get better. They’re getting hot at the right time and are winners in seven of their last 10 games.
