Fresh off a championship run with Gonzaga, star point guard Jalen Suggs officially announced he was declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft.
Suggs, a five-star high school recruit when he committed to Mark Few’s Bulldogs in 2020, was impressive all season and left no doubt that he was the Zags’ best floor general and playmaker.
As if his passing prowess and on the tenacity on the defensive end weren’t enough, the 19-year-old has incredible athleticism and size for his position, which makes his ability to drive downhill a translatable skill at the next level. Suggs was also the hero for the Bulldogs in the Final Four, as he hit an electrifying buzzer-beater to knock the UCLA Bruins out of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, showing his clutch gene in the process.
While Gonzaga saw their perfect season come to an end in the championship game against the Baylor Bears, Suggs’ freshman campaign was certainly one to remember.
Suggs, the West Coast Conference Rookie of the Year and Concensus All-American averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.9 steals on the season.
