The Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a deal with free agent guard Trey Burke, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. Burke played with the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this season before his release in February.
This won’t be Burke’s first run with the Mavs, he averaged 9.7 points per game with the team in 2018-19 after arriving in Dallas as part of the Kristaps Porzingis deal.
The Mavs will add Burke as a substitute player for Willie Cauley-Stein who has opted out of the league restart.
The addition of Burke will fortify a Mavs backcourt that will be without Jalen Brunson for the playoff push and postseason. Brunson underwent shoulder surgery in March and isn’t expected to be available for the team.
