In an on-court, basketball move, the Phoenix Suns will waive Jared Harper. News of the Two-Way guard’s release was first reported by The Athletic’s Gina Mizell.
In his rookie season out of Auburn, Harper had only played eight minutes over three appearances with the Phoenix Suns. Harper was a key part of the Northern Arizona Suns of the NBA G-League however, as he started all 33 of the games he played.
In the NBAGL, Harper averaged 20.9 points, 5.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
The timing of this release is a little odd, given that the Suns will not be able to add another Two-Way player. The deadline for signing a player to a Two-Way contract is January 15.
Phoenix has been among teams to use their Two-Way players in the NBA the least amount. The Suns second Two-Way player, Tariq Owens, wasn’t signed until mid-January and has played 15 minutes over three games in the NBA.
