The Washington Wizards are waiving veteran guard C.J. Miles, Candace Buckner of the Washington Post reports. The move gives the team an additional standard roster spot which they intend to use on Anzejs Pasecniks.
Miles landed in Washington after a midseason salary dump from the Memphis Grizzlies. He served a contributory role in the Wizards’ rotation early in the season but a wrist injury in November cost him his season.
Washington applied for a disabled player exception for Miles in December and it was granted by the league, which indicates that a third party doctor ruled Miles out through mid-June.
Miles is under contract for $8.7M this year and that’s a sum that the Wizards can safely eat without straying into the luxury tax.
