Having already received a commitment from the top overall prospect in the Class of 2017 in DeAndre Ayton, the Wildcats got some more good news on Wednesday morning when Brandon Randolph, a 6-6 shooting guard at Westtown School (PA) announced he plans to take his talents to Tucson as well. He becomes the third recruit for Sean Miller in the 2017 class after Ayton and in-state shooting guard Alex Barcello.
“After taking all my visits and obviously they were my last visit, I just had a good feeling going into it,” Randolph said. “It was a great atmosphere there with great academics and I guess it was just the best fit. It had everything we were looking for.”
Randolph took an official visit to Arizona this past weekend. The Westtown (Pa.) School also took official visits to Syracuse and Oregon. Indiana and Wake Forest were also involved.
Randolph’s mother, Robin, told Scout that her son made a checklist of things he was looking for in a school. What was on that list?
“From a basketball standpoint, just a fast paced game and just the way he visions me of being apart of the program,” the younger Randolph said.
“Then from an academic standpoint, they have my major,” Randolph, who is interested in accounting and finance, said. “The major I want to study. Even though that might change, I could see academics is a big part of their program. They have academics advisors to help me.”
