Brooks, 30, averaged 11.6 points and 3.2 assists in 82 games last season for the Bulls:
The looming return of Brooks, along with earlier free-agent deals struck last week to keep Jimmy Butler and Mike Dunleavy in the fold, means Chicago will essentially bring back the same team as last season under rookie coach Fred Hoiberg.
First-round pick Bobby Portis is the only newcomer certain to join the Bulls’ roster, barring trades between now and training camp.
