Unlike American prospects, top ballers across the pond have the option of entering and withdrawing from the Draft multiple times. Given their ability to use more than one “Draft card,” it is not uncommon to see a guy enter the Draft a few times before ultimately saying in. Fresh off of his 19th birthday, Nedim Buza is giving the NBA Draft his first go-around.
The 6-8 small forward played for Spars Sarajevo this past season is Bosnia’s first division. He contributed, too. Scoring 7 points per game off of the bench, Buza acted as the team’s best scoring option off of the pine. Also spending time with the Bosnian National Team, he has plenty of experience competing against the top players in Europe.
We got a chance to lay our eyes on Nedim in the flesh at the Wasserman Media Group pro day in L.A. The swingman intrigued executives with his ability to stroke it from beyond the NBA three-point line with his pretty jumper and showed off his deceptive athleticism. He displayed a variety of creative finishes at the rack and is a better than average shot creator for a young swingman his size, making it easy to see why there was enough interest to make him put his name in this year’s Draft.
To compete in the NBA, Nedim must get stronger, but will certainly have plenty of time to do so. If he ultimately decides to stay in the Draft this year, whichever team selects him in the second round could likely keep him abroad to develop for a year or two. If not, Buza has plenty of more opportunities to make himself League-bound.
