While the roster has been stable for the better part of a year now, the Los Angeles Clippers’ front-office has been in a state of flux over the past few months. Since the departure of Neil Olshey, the Clippers have been without a general manager, which is never a good thing. We all know Donald Sterling wasn’t going to rush into making a decision, and between him being Donald Sterling, and Blake Griffin/Chris Paul’s surgeries, Clippers fans probably haven’t slept well this summer.
Good news, Clippers fans! You can sleep a little easier now. Yesterday, the team promoted longtime director of player personnel and scouting guru Gary Sacks to the title of Vice President of Basketball Operations. The move will be to the delight of Griffin, who gave Sacks the ultimate co-sign earlier this summer.

The Clippers stayed in-house and named Gary Sacks, a longtime player personnel and scouting executive, as their vice president of basketball operations to succeed the departed Neil Olshey. Sacks is entering his 19th season with the Clippers and spent the last two seasons as director of player personnel and also spent five seasons as director of scouting. “His recent role this very productive summer, as well as his many contributions during the course of his tenure made it clear that he is the right person to lead our basketball operations department,” Clippers President Andy Roeser said in a statement. During the summer the Clippers essentially were run by a trio of executives: Roeser, Coach Vinny Del Negro and Sacks. The Clippers had a busy offseason, signing Griffin to a long-term contract, re-signing guard Chauncey Billups, trading for Lamar Odom and signing several free agents, including Jamal Crawford and Grant Hill.
