According to Sam Amick of AOL FanHouse, Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been fined one-game’s pay, which equals approximately $41,000 of his roughly $3.3 million salary this season, for getting into a fight with teammate Donté Greene. The incident followed the Kings’ Saturday night loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Kings president of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie met with media earlier today to address the situation.
“I think it’s again, an appropriate resolution of what happened,” Petrie said. “I think now we’re going to move forward and watch him continue to improve.”
As far as any disciplinary action for Greene, Petrie concluded none was necessary.
“Talked to a lot of people that were either eyewitness to the entire sequence of events or people who saw most of it,” Petrie said. “In terms of any discipline to Donté, we just concluded that it wasn’t appropriate.”
Cousins will rejoin the Kings Tuesday night against Oklahoma City after missing Sunday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns.
