The Oklahoma City Thunder are heavily involved in the community, and on March 31 Russell Westbrook continued that trend with the Why Not? Bowl. The event encourages children to never give up hope of achieving their dreams. Here’s more from the foundation’s press release:
Yesterday, NBA All-Star and Oklahoma City Thunder Guard, Russell Westbrook hosted his fourth annual Why Not? Bowl. Proceeds of the event benefited the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation. This event also marked the launch of the Why Not Foundation’s website as well as the Russell Reading Room Initiative which will provide students access to books in Oklahoma. The first reading room will be launched at North Highland Elementary school and is intended to help bring higher literacy to children in the area. The Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation is dedicated to supporting community based education and family service programs while encouraging youth to believe in themselves. The event was presented by Edmond Hyundai and sponsored by Jacob Bailey, Robert A. and Marjo Burk, Jordan Brand and the Wasserman Foundation.
With the Who’s Who of Oklahoma City in attendance, including Westbrook’s Oklahoma City teammates including Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins, Steven Adams, Thabo Sefolosha, Jeremy Lamb and Reggie Jackson, the afternoon was spent in good company while bowling for a great cause.
The event was held at AMF Boulevard Lanes, 3501 South Blvd, Edmond, Oklahoma and featured open bowling, contests, and raffles with donations from Jordan Brand, Idea Village, Mario Badescu, Flex Watches, Papi Socks, Trapp Candles, Boomphones, Planet Sox, Shutter Ball, Bubi Bottles, Agadir Hair Care, Original Gourmet Lollipops and Skits tech cases.
