Freeing up another roster spot by trading Jeremy Pargo, the Grizzlies announced today that they have re-signed center Hamed Haddadi to a multi-year contract extension. Haddadi will continue to develop off the bench as Marc Gasol’s primary backup. From the Memphis Commercial Appeal: “The Memphis Grizzlies re-signed center Hamed Haddadi Saturday, finalizing a deal that had been expected this week. Haddadi is entering his fifth season with the Grizzlies. The 27-year-old, 7-footer averaged 2.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in 6.1 minutes during four NBA seasons. A native of Ahvaz, Iran, Haddadi is the first Iranian to play in the league. General manager Chris Wallace said earlier in the week that the Griz needed to add another center to the roster. The Griz will continue to use Haddadi in a limited role, inserting him into games that require great size on the front line.”
