Above is a trailer for the upcoming documentary “Road To The NBA – The Isaiah Thomas Story”, which details former Washington Huskie Isaiah Thomas’ journey to and preparation for the NBA Draft. From training in Las Vegas at IMPACT Basketball Academy, to the Chicago Pre-Draft Combine, to working out back home in Tacoma/Seattle, to being selected by the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Draft, this project reveals his entire process from beginning to end. Thomas has been doubted each and every step of his career. Constantly told that he’s too short, too small, can’t do this, and can’t do that all the way back to his days in Jr High and High School, throughout the AAU Circuit and All American Camps, in College, and especially now in his quest to the NBA. Nonetheless, at every level he has done more than enough to disprove his doubters and leave an emphatic stamp, breaking records and winning championships every stop along the way.
Although he is still being doubted, this film is far more than just the classic “Underdog Story”. It is also much more than simply a highlight tape of Isaiah in the gym putting in extra hours, getting up extra shots, and working out against other top NBA prospects. This film captures who he really is off the court. His true feelings, expectations, goals, motivations, struggles, and fears (or lack thereof) are all on full display and eloquently presented for viewers to see. The film is scheduled for release in December.
