First of all, last week I posted that crazy Yao Ming photo and asked for you guys to come up with the funniest captions. The winning caption belongs to reader Ryan (not SLAM’s Ryan Jones), who riffed on Deadspin‘s Chris Berman line and actually translated it into Chinese. As a reward for his good humor, Ryan will receive a DVD of the Director’s Cut version of Through The Fire, the terrific Sebastian Telfair documentary. Ryan, email me with your address and I’ll take care of you.
For our next contest, I want to get a little trickier. Over the weekend I was surfing the net and came across a site explaining how to customize your Sidekick 3. (There’s detailed info here and here.) It’s very easy to do, and I was even able to create a quick SLAM version for my Sidekick. (Of course, I can’t take a photo of it with my Sidekick because it’s on my Sidekick.)
Now it’s your turn. You guys are creative and have computer skills, so get cracking. Whoever can come up with the best SLAM Sidekick 3 theme will receive an official SLAM 100 New Era fitted hat. These things are really dope and will never be sold in stores, so this is your last chance to get your hands on one.
Come up with the best Sidekick theme that you can and send it to me. We’ll go forward from there.
Finally, in SLAM 100 we announced a contest to win a pair of exclusive Air Jordan XXI PE SLAM Special Makeup shoes. We’ve had 23 pairs to give away, but the only way you could enter was to buy the issue and mail in the form.
Well, we got a few entries. Many thousands, I believe. Here’s a picture of the mail in the office on Friday
So, for the next 23 days we’ll be announcing one winner per day. Good luck to you all, and we’ll be contacting the winners individually. We just want to give them some love on SLAMonline, too.
Today’s winner is…Kendrick Stephens from Hamer, South Carolina. Congrats, Kendrick.
