Top 10 dunks of the 2000’s
Oh my god did he just do that to you!?
By Konate Primus
So the subject of the 2000’s most emphatic, exciting, furious, thunderous, and “don’t let your kids watch sport center” kind of dunks took place in the SLAM dome between Khalid and I sometime last week and after lots of video research and memory this list is what we have to present you with. so many to choose from but these are the best I’ve seen and they are all so good I couldn’t put them in any particular order. Olympics, All star Weekend or dunks on Yao or Shawn Bradley not included… Mainly because everybody jams on Yao or Shawn its like NBA initiation? To me dunking on those guys are like hooking up with the nasty chick at school that every bodies been with,”word you too?”. Anyhow enjoy!
Kobe at the garden
Vince on Alonzo
Tyrus Thomas
Gerald Wallace
Amare on ‘Kandi- man
Bron on Duncan
Baron on AK47
Gerald Green on Jerome James
Rodney Carney on Dwade
Dwayne Wade on Rodney Carney

Tuomas says:
Props for the insane Wallace dunk - haven’t even seen that before - and picking on guys who deserve it the most (J.James, Knicks, Kandi, Jones). But what was Tyrus Thomas doing in there? Plus, the BD dunk shoulda had the original commentary (by Hubie Brown I believe).
Jun.5 at 6:34 am
Gerwin says:
Oh man. Amare on Kandi-man. Love it, love it, love it. How about the look on Starbury’s face?! Nasty!
BTW; where’s Starbury at?
Jun.5 at 6:36 am
Harlem_World says:
The Kobe dunk at the Garden? C’mon…you gotta do better than that. That’s average.
Jun.5 at 6:37 am
Harlem_World says:
OK Vince on Zo…getting better.
Jun.5 at 6:38 am
Konate says:
Harlem, that Kobe Dunk was incredible! the angle is what makes it so dope. he didnt spin with that, he was just floating under the basket and he threw it down
Jun.5 at 6:39 am
Harlem_World says:
Tyrus Thomas in pre-season? Are you kidding me? What games are you watching? Average is currently winning this series 2-1…
Jun.5 at 6:40 am
Harlem_World says:
OK, Gerald Wallace ties the series 2-2.
Jun.5 at 6:40 am
Konate says:
the tyrus thomas dunk was Ugly!!! first of all he Blocked the shot on the other end and then he gave full extension on the Dunk. Not to mention he took off from damn near china!
Jun.5 at 6:42 am
Harlem_World says:
Amare on Kandi? “you can’t do that” goes up 3-2.
Jun.5 at 6:44 am
Konate says:
Harlem world, your tough, I appreciate it. haha those joints stood out to me!
Jun.5 at 6:44 am
Harlem_World says:
Bron on TD - extends the series 4-2. The haters are waiting for more ammunition. Konate, that was pre-season and the dunk was average bruh. I promise you. It really was.
Jun.5 at 6:45 am
Harlem_World says:
Baron on AK47! Series is now at 5-2 and credibility is back in the building!
Jun.5 at 6:47 am
Konate says:
Damn, I feel you. i kinda hesitated at first b-cus it was pre season but, I was really feeling it!
Jun.5 at 6:47 am
Harlem_World says:
OK Gerald Green makes it in. Not the best, but that was hard and it was on Jerome James (he prolly loses points for that), but the judges say “its good”. 6-2 and the haters are now quiet.
Jun.5 at 6:48 am
Konate says:
LMAO, Ight! had me shook for a sec
Jun.5 at 6:48 am
Madrub says:
Hold on. Just ONE Vince Carter dunk makes the list? That’s bullsh8t.
Jun.5 at 6:50 am
Konate says:
i could do a whole list of Vince Dunks but i had to show love to the rest of the L, ya feel me?
Jun.5 at 6:56 am
Tuomas says:
No list is complete without Kobe on Dwight, no matter how many times people have seen it. Also, if we go history/irony, the Jason Richardson bounce oop on Kemp: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84sKRMBveB4
Jun.5 at 6:56 am
Harlem_World says:
Carney on Wade? I’m guessing this was Khalids doing? This is like that extra dude that turns up to the club with a fine ass girl. You don’t want to really let him in, but to get his girl in, I guess you got to. It was on Wade afterall. 7-2. Someone tell Kelly Price to start warming up.
Jun.5 at 6:58 am
Konate says:
Harlem…WOW!
Jun.5 at 7:01 am
Harlem_World says:
Hmmm…Wade on Carney has to make it in on the merit of Carney making it in, but LAWD I’m sick and tired of commentators riding DWades dilsnick. When Carney dunked on him, you heard no talk of “dunked on him” it was all about showing his youthful athleticism. Let Wade dunk on him? It’s the damn second coming. Puhleeeeeze. OK a begrudging 8-2, but somehow we leave the building unsastisfied. I guess I know what it must feel like to be Joe Dumars.
Jun.5 at 7:05 am
Tuomas says:
Aww, come on Harlem. I felt the same as you, but the bonus dunk really made the list for me. Didn’t even know I had that much hidden aggression towards Damon. Just awesome.
Jun.5 at 7:11 am
Konate says:
harlem World i changed the Tryus thomas dunk. essentially the same but a notch better. holla at me!
Jun.5 at 7:15 am
Harlem_World says:
Lebron on DJones is my favorite. It couldn’t have happened to a a more deserving person. Here are the things I take from that dunk (1) Jones walks away from the play holding his face like he’s hurt - which just makes it look worse for him (2) Lebron laughing as he walks away and (3) after having someone do this to you, why would you then tuck your tail between your legs and go play on his team? Jones is the epitome of a NBA bum.
Jun.5 at 7:20 am
Konate says:
and not only play on his team but become his personal Cheerleader!
Jun.5 at 7:22 am
Harlem_World says:
OK, that’s better. The block is better and the dunk is better - and its regular season too. Don’t be surprised if someone finds a collection of Vince, TMac and Josh Smith bangers that top your list though. Final thought on the Lebron on DJones banger: Somewhere, silently, JJ Reddick is smiling…
Jun.5 at 7:27 am
Bigi says:
Kobe on Dwight…?Anyone!?!
Jun.5 at 8:04 am
Tuomas says:
Bigi: Already suggested it but hasn’t passed moderation… Maybe because I put a clip of the Jason Richardson alleyoop during Balloon Kemp’s final season. Well, he’s no balloon anymore but no NBA player either.
Jun.5 at 8:18 am
Froggiestyle says:
hands down - Baron Davis - AK47 is a known shot blocker (not much else btw) and B is tiny compared to him yet still threw the snit dowwwnnnn. PS. I love amare, but Kandiman is in the same league as Yao and S Bradley…. soft as they come - so DQ’ed
Jun.5 at 8:20 am
Konate says:
1Yeah, Kobe on Dwight was serious! its def up there. i completely erased that from my mind because Dwight is my boy but yea thast UGLY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szmYKrZtwW4
Jun.5 at 8:22 am
Konate says:
but that DUnk is what really let people know how much of a problem he was going to be. at this point in time he was 21-22 and Blind in one eye!
Jun.5 at 8:23 am
sab says:
agree, we need the Hubie/B-Diddy commentary “oh my, hello. this is just… spectacular”
Jun.5 at 8:23 am
Konate says:
My Last comment was directed to Froggie
Jun.5 at 8:54 am
Ryan Jones says:
Ah, Kobe from behind…
Isn’t that the game that Primedia got us the luxury box for? I think I remember being at that game, and being sort of drunk. Anyone?
Jun.5 at 9:03 am
Konate says:
thats what i heard Ryan. Lang rubbed it in my face during the discussion!
How the hell are you Btw Jones? you know i got my first National title this year?
Jun.5 at 9:13 am
Lang Whitaker says:
No Josh Smith? Come on…Rodney Carney? Gerald Green?
Jun.5 at 9:19 am
Arthur Rimbaud Jr. says:
I like the Tyrus Thomas dunk, it comes after he blocked a shot and that’s pretty spectacular. The one I prefer is Amare on the Kandi-man, mainly because it shows Starbury can get an assist.
Jun.5 at 9:22 am
Konate says:
Lang , that Rodney Carney Dunk was dope! Josh has some good ones but nothing that stuck in my mind.
Jun.5 at 9:34 am
DDB says:
I like the Lebron on Duncan but if I’m takin a Lebron dunk…I’m going Lebron on Damon Jones. That was just embarssing for DJ. The way Lebron throws him down like a school-boy.
Jun.5 at 9:35 am
Eboy says:
Gerald Wallace takes the title.
Jun.5 at 9:38 am
DDB says:
My fault fellas, I forgot to click on the bonus dunk before I posted my opinion.
Jun.5 at 9:42 am
Saku 39 says:
Kirk Snyder on Von Wafer is underrated.
Jun.5 at 9:44 am
Vanilla Thunder says:
Im partial to Lebron over Damon / Delonte / The bulls. Also Kobe on Dwight was nice. Or when Ronnie brewer hurtled Boozer I think it was.
Jun.5 at 9:51 am
drew says:
the lebron on rasheed dunk in the 07 playoffs was way better than his dunk on duncan in the regular season. or even this years on kg was better
Jun.5 at 10:17 am
ciolkstar says:
Baron on AK47 might be my favorite dunk ever. All the emotion that team was riding with… The way he starts yelling before he’s even at the rim, right after he just muscles AK out of the way. Unbelieveable.
Jun.5 at 10:18 am
Joe B says:
Wallace, VC, Ty Thomas and Baron definitely sick. Rest of the list was kind of blah for best of the 2000s. There had to be an Iggy dunk on there somewhere. Ditto Jason Richardson.
Jun.5 at 10:24 am
ciolkstar says:
Hubie’s call was awesome too. “Oh my, Hello!…”
Jun.5 at 10:27 am
Jukai says:
This list sort of sucks
Jun.5 at 10:34 am
E.Sneed says:
Ya’ll wrong for doing D-Jones like that! But what about the Gerald Greene “freeze frame” when he caught it off the glass and frozen in mid air?!
Jun.5 at 10:35 am
E.Sneed says:
Oh yeah, and Kobe on Steve Nash, he kicked dude in the head!
Jun.5 at 10:53 am
Joe A says:
It’s almost criminal that the bron on kg dunk from this years playoffs didn’t make the list.
Jun.5 at 11:00 am
Tom says:
Can’t believe Wallace landed on his feet after that dunk, dude must have taken gymnastics or something as a kid…….should have also put marvin williams on camby, and ronnie price on boozer.
Jun.5 at 11:06 am
Allenp says:
That Vince dunk made me sad. “If he only had a heart.”
Jun.5 at 11:12 am
Allenp says:
Dwight Howard learned quickly that trying to take a charge doesn’t work the same in the league. Baptized was the right word.
Jun.5 at 11:12 am
Ryan Jones says:
I did not know that, Konate. Congrats. Still not to late to transfer to PSU and get some coaching from a legend. Plus you can hang out with your girl Doris when she gets back from Beijing.
Jun.5 at 11:15 am
Allenp says:
Oh, Ronnie Price had a nasty dunk a while back. It was filthy. I think it was over Boozer.
Jun.5 at 11:27 am
Zee! says:
If you look closely in the background when Bron booms on Damon Jones, you can see this kid cover his mouth, look at his boy in disbelief, and then applaud Lebron. That never gets old.
Jun.5 at 11:41 am
DP says:
It’s funny how dwade got sh*tted on by Carney but he came right back and straight royal flushed Carney’s ass. The way Dwade looked when he did it made me believe this guy could develop a mean streak and a killer instinct without all of his hops. I guess I was dead wrong.

B. Long says:
When was the Kobe dunk against Denver where he put the ball around his back to get by the denfender and then 360′d? I thought it was this decade and if so it def. deserves some love. Anybody know which one I’m talking about?
Jun.5 at 11:55 am
B. Long says:
Kobe’s dunk on Superman 2.0 deserves heavy consideration too. And how is J-Rich not on this list but Gerald Green and Rondey Carney are?
Jun.5 at 11:57 am
Konate says:
never Jones! but i tell u one thing i’m gonna get that damn nittany lion trophy this year.(probabaly the best trophy in the states)
Jun.5 at 11:58 am
Simone Lawy says:
i know B.Long…..that’s the most creative dunk ever by kobe.
Jun.5 at 11:59 am
Simone Lawy says:
where’s kobe on dwight ???
Jun.5 at 11:59 am
Konate says:
and Ryan i cant believe you put that out there, you bastard! lol
Jun.5 at 12:01 pm
Khalid Salaam says:
I made sure that gerald wallace dunk was in there.
that dunk is the best dunk of this decade so far, bar none.
Jun.5 at 12:04 pm
Ken says:
Agreed, where the hell is Kobe on Dwight?
Jun.5 at 12:08 pm
iLL wiLL says:
I can’t believe I missed that Gerald Wallace dunk. Simply absurd. Or maybe because it was in slow motion. Either way, Wallace took off!
Jun.5 at 12:08 pm
Ryan Jones says:
Konate: I said nothing.
Khalid: I think you can make a real strong case for Baron on Kirilenko. Given the height/length disparity and Kirilenko’s rep as a shot blocker, that sh*t still defies belief. Plus, you said “bar none,” so I’m pretty much required to disagree with you on principle.
Jun.5 at 12:10 pm
Tuomas says:
B.Long: That was on Vincent Yarbrough and it was the 2003 season. I just youtubed Kobe’s top ten dunks (Courtside countdown) from that year and it was somehow only fourth on the list. Ahead were the dunk on Knicks, the Yao facial and basically the same Knicks dunk, but against the Twolves. That countdown was really something…
Jun.5 at 12:17 pm
matt the jazz fan says:
gold medal: tie between vince and gerald wallace. maybe plastic man 2010 gets the edge for his heart (and pushing for the underdog) thanks konate
Jun.5 at 12:20 pm
B. Long says:
Didn’t Gerald have a similar dunk where he actually stepped on Nash’s face? It may have been in a preseason game but I thought I remembered that for some reason.
Jun.5 at 12:33 pm
Khalid Salaam says:
Ryan: baron over ak is worthy for sure. but g wallace is basically flying thru the air and the guy from the rockets’ face is on wallaces thigh as he flies by him. additionally he’s sorta sideways in the air so the angle is absurd. its just an amazing play. still number 1, just accept it and move on..
Jun.5 at 12:42 pm
B. Long says:
Even though the list is kinda weak, My vote goes to B-Diddy over the villian from Rocky 3.
Jun.5 at 12:44 pm
Khalid Salaam says:
b.long=ryan apologist
Jun.5 at 12:48 pm
Celts Fan says:
LeBron on Damon Jones is MUCH better than the Duncan one (LeBron on KG from a few weeks ago is too.) Gerald Green from Tony Allen off the backboard was better than his other dunk too. Also, Ricky Davis jumping over Steve Nash?
Jun.5 at 12:50 pm
Celts Fan says:
Those 3 are definitely in my list over the Crash one, the Amare one (it’s nice, but nothing too spectacular) and the LeBron one. Also, I can’t think of one off the top of my head, but Josh Smith must have put something fierce down on someone that could make this list…
Jun.5 at 1:04 pm
k.o. says:
those wade and carney dunks are lame…and as much as i hate vince, he could take spots one through seven easily. how could u leave out his slam on timbot??:: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1uewZx1b-c
Jun.5 at 1:05 pm
B. Long says:
Khalid: You don’t know me very well do you?
Jun.5 at 1:12 pm

this stro slam should be up there for sure

Jun.5 at 1:27 pm
Mike C says:
C’mon, Vince has got to have at least three in there. Also, I’d put Kobe’s dunk on the entire Timberwolves squad back in 2003 playoffs over the one at the Garden.
Jun.5 at 1:31 pm
its just alex says:
The hangtime on the Wallace dunk is absolutely ridiculous.
Jun.5 at 2:19 pm
B. Long says:
@CeltsFan: The Demasculation of Damon Jones should def. be on the list. I can’t believe that man can even look Lebron in the face.
Jun.5 at 2:19 pm
Konate says:
you guys are crazy for taking duncan over any other lebron dunk. The one of Damon jones is great but its not fair! its damn jones, the one on KG is siiiick but Kg rotated late the one on duncan was straight up his chest, from point A to B! Also i did mention The Kobe over Dwight dunk, its F*cking great I just overlooked it. But thats the only dunk anyone has mentioned i feel like i missed! as for vince i can give you a top 100 of vince’s dunks but i just wanted to give other dudes some love. and this list is OH FISH-EEE-ALLL! uff what ya heard
Jun.5 at 2:21 pm
Khalid Salaam says:
what konate said…
Jun.5 at 2:22 pm
B. Long says:
What about the Kobe vs. Denver circa 2003 dunk? That’s one of the greatest in game dunks of all time.
Jun.5 at 2:25 pm
Konate says:
everybody keep saying: what about Josh Smith. can anybody refer me to a josh smith dunk that should be on this list?
Jun.5 at 2:26 pm
Konate says:
Thanks Kha. ight b.long i’m gonna check that right now

Jun.5 at 3:00 pm
Konate says:
i guess thats why your name is “What”
Jun.5 at 3:05 pm
Tuomas says:
Oh heck, I’ll just put the Kobe top ten circa 2003 in there myself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zH2tRg7Fk-U&NR=1
Does he do this type of stuff every year? The first two aren’t much but then it’s HELLO! Check number 8(!). And the stylish 360 he pulled out on the Wolves at #7? That was a playoff game momentum switcher… I even think the other baseline dunk might’ve been better than the one Konate put out there.
Jun.5 at 3:06 pm
Tuomas says:
Man, check the top ten Kobe dunks from 2003.
Jun.5 at 3:16 pm
Konate says:
Ok people! the Kobe Dunk on the T wolves is essentially the same damn dunk! if your gonna complain please make it worth my time to check!
Jun.5 at 3:17 pm
Hursty says:
ok, so what about the Devin Harris hammer in 04-05? That was great, he gets hammered and theres a lot of contact, Smith from the crossover in alt. hawks uniform and two hander met at the rack? Rondo this year?
Jun.5 at 3:17 pm
Myles Brown says:
I disagree.
Jun.5 at 3:18 pm
B. Long says:
@Konate: Have you seen the Nuggets one yet? You gotta add that one at least.
Jun.5 at 3:23 pm
Jackie Moon says:
The Nuggets dunk by Kobe left even Chick Hearn flabbergasted : “What did I just see?” Kobe’s best dunks are pure acrobatics, skill, coordination. Not so much power, but enough. Except for the preseason dunk on Benny Wrong Direction Bro Wallace. That was power.
Jun.5 at 3:29 pm
starbury&stevey says:
kirk snyder OVER von wafer…??
Jun.5 at 3:29 pm
Hursty says:
The dwight alley oop from Jameer Nelson where he goes horizontal arm to get it? Its against the C’s and PP almost tries to grb the ball (if he did Dwight woulda had his armed ripped off)
Jun.5 at 3:31 pm
Jukai says:
Tyrus Thomas and Lebron James dunks don’t deserve to be there. I don’t care if you jam over a great shot blocker, if it’s a boring jam, it’s a boring jam.
Jun.5 at 3:32 pm
Jukai says:
Also, that 360 dunk by Kobe 2003 is the best Kobe dunk ever.
Jun.5 at 3:33 pm
starbury&stevey says:

Ryan Jones says:
Khalid accepts no dissent.
Jun.5 at 3:42 pm
Tuomas says:
Konate, I believe I mentioned earlier it was the same dunk. With more crowd though. But I admit it’s maybe better if you show him doing it to the knicks…
Jun.5 at 3:46 pm
B. Long says:
@Jackie are you talking about the one when Ben was on the Wizards? That was disgusting, it made me contort my face in ungodly ways.
Jun.5 at 3:46 pm
nothin personal says:
Come on Jones, Baron put his elbow on AKs mug to make that dunk happen. It was still a GREAT dunk, but you can’t put something like that in first. maybe 2nd with an exclamation mark.
Jun.5 at 3:47 pm
B. Long says:
Bynum on Shaq his rookie year should be on here just out of the sheer ballsiness of it.
Jun.5 at 3:47 pm
Tuomas says:
But you gotta agree that the Yarbrough/Denver dunk was René Higuita…
Jun.5 at 3:47 pm
B. Long says:
I miss 2001 Steve Francis:(
Jun.5 at 3:49 pm
Tuomas says:
Also, the one Kobe had on Wallace wasn’t in this millennium so it don’t even count.
Jun.5 at 3:52 pm
B. Long says:
Yall remember when D-Fish flushed on AI in the Finals. Sic. Not one of the top ten but I figured I’d bring it up given tonights festivites.
Jun.5 at 3:53 pm
Jackie Moon says:
Tumoas - whoops, you are right sir, Kobe preseason over Benny was late 90s. Mah bad. Was Vince Carter over Fredrick Weis 2000s?
Jun.5 at 3:55 pm
Tuomas says:
Jackie, a question: what year were the SYDNEY OLYMPICS
Jun.5 at 4:01 pm

Jun.5 at 4:12 pm
TADOne says:
Can we get a top 10 best blocks of 2000’s.
Jun.5 at 4:14 pm
B. Long says:
Tad knows there will actually be some Pistons on that list. lol
Jun.5 at 4:18 pm
B. Long says:
@Tad: Tayshaun on Reggie gets my #1 spot.
Jun.5 at 4:39 pm
TADOne says:
Very astute observation B Long. And yes, Tay on Reg would be #1.
Jun.5 at 4:41 pm
Khalid Salaam says:
This is great. But just so we all agree, the g wallace dunk is number 1. I’ve said what needed to be said.
Jun.5 at 4:41 pm
Hursty says:
Smith owning D-Wade is up there too. K Mart blocking it into the 6th row. Camby forcing the ball down onto some guy, forcing a travel and making said dude fall to the floor from force of block.
Jun.5 at 4:42 pm
Ben Osborne says:
Konate put the slam in SLAM. Nice work.
Jun.5 at 5:01 pm
warr says:
chris Paul over dwight Howard , Kobe over dwight, kg over ratliff, vince over ducan, kobe over nash, wade over jermaine oneal, travis outlaw over rodney carney, lebron over ducan, shaq over mutombo 01 finals, stromile swift over tyrus Thomas, tyrus Thomas over shaq his first regular season game. Im killing yall.

anyone else see gerald green in a spurs uniform next season? go lakers
Jun.6 at 7:13 am
Konate says:
Michael, NO SHAWN BRADLEY DUNKS! did’nt you read the paragraph above?
Jun.6 at 9:35 am
will says:
carney on dwade is the best
Jun.6 at 11:36 am
B. Long says:
I totally forgot about CP3 on Dwight and Kobe on Nash in the playoffs. Damn, Mamba should own about half the damn list.
Jun.6 at 11:57 am
Will says:
first of all…Yao really doesn’t get dunked on that much, but the four or so times it has happened it always gets blown up by ESPN and stuff. Second of all, I don’t care what anyone says…the T-Mac dunk on Shawn Bradley was insane and beats all those above except maybe the Gerald Wallace or Vince dunk. I don’t care if it was Shawn Bradley….that dunk was a top 3 of the 2000s no matter what.
Jun.6 at 12:23 pm
B_Easy24 says:
That Vince Carter dunk was crazy too bad dude don’t dunk anymore

I remember seeing a stromile swift dunk on tyrus thomas that definately belongs on this list.
Jun.7 at 7:02 pm
Dre Baldwin says:
This list is lazy and for the most part ridiculously off-point. How can VC have only 1 of the top 10? Nothing from Shaq in the Finals on Dik?

Konate, in my opinion, any of these Josh Smith dunks are better than any of the dunks you have listed…

Jun.9 at 5:01 pm
Diogo says:
Where is Josh Smith on ? That was sickest than Baron’s. Kobe on Dwight is also missing. Kobe on Nash is missing (tho’ not top 10). Really, this list goes as far as like 4 seasons ago…you can’t be serious. The deserving ones are: Wallace, Bron on Duncan, Vince on Zo’, Amare. The rest suck, specially Wade’s and Green’s.
Jun.9 at 5:01 pm
Diogo says:
sickest=sicker, suckest…
