Why is it ridiculous?

Sesa says:
My guess that it depends on whom the Bulls are going to draft. If The Bulls draft Beasley, then Wade is going to be playing in the Chi

Russ Bengtson says:
All in all, I’d rather have them go back in time and trade for Kobe. Although some combination of Wade and the No. 2 for a few someones and the No. 1 would be OK with me. Provided he’s entirely healthy.

Sesa says:
and 1st, By the way…

“provided he’s entirely healthy” - ah, there’s the rub, eh russ?
Jun.4 at 10:09 am
Sesa says:
W’ell, the Kobe trade didn’t happen because the Bulls reluctantcy to part with Luol. Now it seemed that Bulls are ready to part with Luol

Jukai says:
Who the hell are the Bulls going to give up? Everyone?
Jun.4 at 10:13 am
Russ Bengtson says:
It would involve a flip-flop of the No. 1 and No. 2 picks, probably a re-signed Deng or Gordon, and maybe Tyrus Thomas? Then they draft Beasley and team him with Wade and whoever’s left.
Jun.4 at 10:14 am
Sesa says:
definitely Luol, Ben Gordon and also JOAKIM

Jukai says:
Didn’t Wade average something like 24/5/6 while struggling with injuries this entire year? Wasn’t Wade in the discussion for runner up for best player on the PLANET a year and a half ago? What’s up with this?
Jun.4 at 10:17 am
Jukai says:
Sorry, but I guess learning that Wade is gonna work on his jump shot is having everyone freak out. I strongly believe Beasley will never, EVER be as good as Wade, and unless Miami is doing this as one last gift for bringing them a championship, this doesn’t make sense to me.
Jun.4 at 10:17 am
Eboy says:
Nothing, Jukai.
Jun.4 at 10:20 am
Russ Bengtson says:
Wade is coming off multiple surgeries, and if the Heat think Rose is far and away the number one pick (which I agree with), why not go after him with everything? Add Deng and Thomas to Rose, and you have one hell of a young nucleus.

This is interesting….

Sparker says:
is there some unwritten story to be written about d wade’s attitude issues post-championship? i have no idea if this is true, but the big endorsements, the hanging out with shaq, the divorce and ensuing attentions of god knows how many women… it could have an effect on a man’s ego. we certainly don’t read about how humble he is anymore. again, i really don’t know… but does anyone else?
Jun.4 at 10:26 am
Sparker says:
and russ, why is rose far and away your #1?
Jun.4 at 10:26 am
Russ Bengtson says:
The Heat want Rose, NOT Beasley, correct? At least that’s what I’ve been led to believe. (And I think it’s the correct decision.) Rose seems like he could be a top-five point guard for a decade. In today’s NBA, you NEED that. And Wade, given his style, I’m not convinced he’ll be playing at an All-Star level when he’s 30. I think the Heat are smart to at least see what’s possible.
Jun.4 at 10:29 am
H to the izzo says:
I still take Beasley no.1,but I definitely don’t want Rose and Wade on the same team.If I’m the Heat,I try and make this trade happen.Wade’s bones can on;y take so much.
Jun.4 at 10:30 am
Russ Bengtson says:
I just have LOTS of questions about Beasley. For starters, he’s 6-8, 6-9. As some moron columnist pointed out, that’s the same size as McGrady or LeBron. Great. Those guys are GUARDS. Playmaking scorers, no less. Beasley is a POWER FORWARD. And I definitely worry about the countless well-documented maturity issues—and the fact that he seems to think that they’re not a problem. Give me the big point guard over the undersized power forward nine times out of eight. If Beasley turns into an All-Star and Rose turns into Mateen Cleaves, I’ll apologize. Until then, I take Rose every time.
Jun.4 at 10:32 am
Jukai says:
The other X-Factor here, Russ, is that you have no idea how good Rose is going to be. Last I saw, he messed up huge MULTIPLE times in the NCAA championship, has a bit of trouble running the half-court, loves to take circus shots… he hasn’t proven himself to me yet. He hasn’t proven himself to anyone. And, to my knowledge, Wade is the 2006 NBA Finals MVP. Injury issues aside, I’m going with the known choice.
Jun.4 at 10:33 am
Jukai says:
BTW: Lebron is a small forward
Jun.4 at 10:36 am
H to the izzo says:
Russ:Beasely could easily play SF in the Lig,he has the skill set,his handling is coming along. He’ll be one of the best rebounding SFs in the L anyway,he has a huge ceiling. The character questions surrounding him are bullsh*t.He can work effectively with or without the ball, unlike Rose,I don’t think Rose should be garanteed #1 just because we saw him last.

don’t forget the Matrix
Jun.4 at 10:37 am
Russ Bengtson says:
LeBron is more or less LeBron. He’s a 1-2-3-4. Regardless, Beasley ain’t LeBron.
Jun.4 at 10:38 am
Jukai says:
Case in point Russ, Rose ain’t Wade
Jun.4 at 10:39 am
Russ Bengtson says:
And while I agree I have no idea how good Rose will be, and Wade was Finals MVP…who cares? It’s not like there’s discussion of Wade for Marbury or something.
Jun.4 at 10:39 am
Russ Bengtson says:
It’s not talk of Wade for the No. 1 straight up! Sheesh, I quit.
Jun.4 at 10:42 am
Jukai says:
You’re right, because freakin’… throwing in Tyrus Thomas really makes me feel better. Sorry Russ, I’m pretty hard to convince.
Jun.4 at 10:45 am
Jukai says:
Eboy what’s yer take.
Jun.4 at 10:46 am
Russ Bengtson says:
No, you’re right, it’s an absolutely asinine deal, and if the Heat even considered any variation on it they should be kicked out of the NBA for being pathologically stupid. I’m an idiot for even implying a trade between the two teams could make even a remote bit of sense. I’m not sure why I even bother talking about the NBA when it’s so painfully obvious that I don’t know the first thing about it. I’m sorry for wasting everyone’s time.
Jun.4 at 10:50 am
Eboy says:
Russ hasn’t had a mild meltdown in a few months. Jukai, you’ve been more thane enough of a ball breaker this morning. Plese stop.
Jun.4 at 10:50 am
Eboy says:
*Please.
Jun.4 at 10:53 am
Eboy says:
Jukai, actually, this story has been out for 48 hours and Riley still hasn’t responsed with a “that’s ridiculous” or whatnot, so there could be validity to it, but it’s highly doubtful.
Jun.4 at 10:59 am
Eboy says:
*responded. Stupid words.

B. Long says:
Wade, Marion, and Ricky Davis for 1st pick, Tyrus Thomas, and Larry Hughes.
Jun.4 at 11:26 am
Eboy says:
B, it’s Derrick Rose or Michael Beasley. It’s not Lebron James at the #1. Are you serious? Do you know the cap space issues involved with moving Marion and Wade?
Jun.4 at 11:37 am
what says:
I would trade Wade for Derrick Rose — not cuz Rose is necessarily better but because his career will last a lot longer.
Jun.4 at 11:53 am
rikson says:
plus rose is/will evolve into more PG than wade has ever been…
Jun.4 at 11:59 am
Billymagnum says:
Am I the only one who thinks that Rose looks a lot like a bigger marbury…and I believe Barkley stood only about six five, but played PF with reckless abandon….Beasley may not be on Chuck’s level as far as having heart, but don’t just dismiss him because of height. And last I checked, Baron, D.williams, CP3, tony parker, etc…are NOT in the finals….two guys named fisher and rondo are running the point, so the theory that you NEED a great point guard is overrated…what you NEED is a couple of great players, regardless of position and some good role players.

i think rose played better at memphis than wade did at marquette, so going on that i say its a good trade

Cheryl is funny!
Jun.4 at 12:16 pm
B. Long says:
@Eboy: No I don’t have one of those handy dandy Heat Cap Room Calculators on me right now but if your looking to totally rebuild from the ground up and you have a shot at getting a franchise caliber point guard and the best all around player not already in the league along with a younger, less annoying version of Shawn Marion (Tyrus Thomas) and a possibly decent two guard in exchange for a great but often injured superstar and an athletic but emotionally scarred and aging small forward, I would find away to make it work. It’s Pat Riley we’re talking about here.

Dwayne Wade’s career is looking less Mike and more Penny with ever passing day.

TADOne says:
The Heat are trading Dwyane?
Jun.4 at 12:53 pm
Jukai says:
If the Heat kept their #2 pick and got the #1 pick, then the trade would be worth it for the Heat. THEN the trade starts to look crappy for Chicago.
Jun.4 at 12:56 pm
RV says:
it makes more sense to me for miami to trade Wade for the #1 plus others, the age issue would bother me most. Rose and Beasley are practically the same age and that gives you a great young core, more years at the top than keeping wade-rose/beasley-marion.
Jun.4 at 1:07 pm
Cheryl says:
what the hell are y’all talking about?? why is this even garnering conversation? i don’t get it, unless you guys are just going crazy waiting for the finals to start. man, what will you be talking about this summer? trading lebron because, look, he’s gonna run in 2010 anyway… that’s just stupid…
Jun.4 at 1:12 pm
Khalid Salaam says:
I do not believe that the Heat would trade Wade. I cannot think of a scenario in which this makes sense to me. He’s young, he will heal from his injuries. To trade a top 7 player. a finals mvp, a guy who is still under 30 for a draft pick to be is nuts.

Shawn Marion… Shawn Marion… Shawn Marion…
Jun.4 at 3:46 pm
Co Co says:
Maybe the Heat know something about his injuries that the rest of us don’t and Khalid didn’t you question his healing power in Slam. I forget which issue, but I’m pretty sure that was you comparing him to Penny. Why are you all of a sudden so sure he’ll heal from his injuries? I’m not, so I can definitely see why the Heat are entertaining this if in fact that are, the Bulls on the other hand I dunno…. I still question Wade’s health long term.
Jun.4 at 3:52 pm
Jukai says:
I think this is honestly, for the history books, the first time I have agreed with Khalid. Ever.
Jun.4 at 3:54 pm
Jukai says:
Co Co, just having Rose on the team diminishes the chances of Wade getting hurt. Wade has a guy that can get him easy baskets, and can take his own crazy-ass circus shots… Wade was mostly getting hurt cause of the weight from carrying the team.
Jun.4 at 3:54 pm
Co Co says:
Top 7?
Jun.4 at 3:56 pm
Co Co says:
Eboy, that little rant was just for you
Wade was merely getting hurt because he kept purposely falling after every layup/ jumpshot/freethrow…….. I still can’t figure out why he fell so much. He’s gotta be the clumsiest dude in the world or a flopper who doesn’t get near enough credit for his skill.
Jun.4 at 4:06 pm
Eboy says:
I remember when I used to think Co Co was fine AND ball intelligent. Those were the days.

casey says:
I don’t think the Heat will get rid of their DWade this early in his career. If anything, they’ll get rid of my man Marion. Wade has a lot more promise than someone like Marion. Plus, I bet Wade is a lot easier to please from a management perspective. But, if Wade DOES go to Chi-city…sorry Pat, the next couple of years are going to suck.
Jun.4 at 4:32 pm

ha…their DWade. I have exceptional typing skills today. I meant to say DWade, not “their DWade”.

Man we need some games to watch
Jun.4 at 4:50 pm
ciolkstar says:
Wade for the 1st pick and Luol deng would probably work out really well for the heat. Luol is great w/o the ball, and the Heat could take Lopez the greater (if they really are sour on Beastley) Rose, Deng, Wright, Haslem, Lopez… a young but potentially very effective starting 5. Now as for the bench…
Jun.4 at 4:50 pm
ciolkstar says:
Dwade is just too marketable though…
Jun.4 at 5:42 pm
RV says:
i dont think its crazy to talk about it, as good as Wade is, he’s only one guy, if they have a chance to get both picks and some solid guys then they should do it. They need to start building a TEAM. If Wade was on Lebron or Kobe’s level, then thats different, you dont get guys like that every year.
Jun.4 at 6:02 pm
Chukaz says:
DWade ain’t goin’ nowhere. I know that Riles is f*ckin’ stupid but he ain’t the dude that donated Gasol to the Lakers. Why do the Lakers have the D-fenders if they can just go to the Grizzles when the need talent?
Jun.4 at 6:06 pm
Chukaz says:
If Riles likes OJ as much as it seems to like him and hates Mike as much as people believe, I would trade Wade if I could get the 1st pick and keep the 2nd pick, then draft Rose/OJ 1/2, but the bulls ain’t givin’ up the 1st and not getting the 2nd in return.
Jun.4 at 6:07 pm
Chukaz says:
Now that I think of it. This sh*t ain’t goin down. Riles ain’t gonna give up DWade and the 2nd pick just to move up one spot.
Jun.4 at 7:09 pm
Mo Charlo says:
Seventy-third!
Jun.4 at 7:31 pm
RV says:
well the rumor never said what was being traded, it just involved wade, so who knows what the Bulls/Heat would be willing to take or trade, it was the writer of the article who suggested Wade+pick for the #1.
Jun.4 at 8:51 pm
MIA says:
Wait a minute, for arguments sake, say beasley and rose are equals, because let’s face it, there are too many ‘experts’ who can’t make their minds up. And lets say that whatever combination of players involved in the trade, (excluding Wade) are more or less equal. Then basically, the heat will be giving Wade to the Chi for free…now he may have injury issues, but id rather have wade for 51 games than 0 games, if all other things are equal. Ya dig?
Jun.4 at 9:12 pm
MIA says:
Even Wade for a the number 1 pick, straight swap, is bad for MIA, because a combination of wade and rose(or beasley) is better than beasley and rose….the only way it would be beneficial for the heat is if they got the number 1 pick and a talented player or 2…..in saying all of that, from the Chi’s perspective if they could rip the heat off in anyway then they should
