LAKERS AND CELTICS! Get used to it!

And it doesn’t even start until Thursday

By Sam Rubenstein

We are finally here. The dream has become reality. Lakers and Celtics in the Finals. The series that sells itself. Tradition, big superstar names, Hall of Famers, history, everything in the infinite universe. If there is any downside to this showdown, the only one I can think of is that neither of these teams really feel like a champion yet. The Lakers haven’t been tested at all, other than Utah fighting back to tie them, but I would still say this Lakers team hasn’t faced real playoff adversity yet. The closest thing to adveristy they faced was when Kobe got hurt, but the playoffs go on for so long, he seems completely healed, um except for that he’s doing this with 9 fingers. He’s insane.

As for the Celtics, they’ve faced waaaaaaay too much adversity in these playoffs already. Put it this way, the biggest mismatch in the Finals is Phil Jackson vs. Doc Rivers.

But yes, LAKERS AND CELTICS in The Finals baby! Just like the village elders always ramble on about. I’m a little too young to remember the glory days of the 80’s Finals, but I’ve done my reading, seen the rebroadcasts and endless TV specials about them, and I am excited to have it back in our lives. Plenty of coverage forthcoming. Lang is going to all seven games (if it goes that far), and the three headed monster of Ben, Khalid, and myself will each be attending our share of games.

By the way, game one is Thursday. That’s a long time from now. Welcome to Finals… month.

if the lakers steal any of the home games, its over imo.

Jun.2 at 9:01 am

BETCATS says:
“The dream has become reality”. Not for me. Bobcats v. Warriors in 2011. I already bought the tickets on Ticketmaster; the master of all tickets.

Jun.2 at 9:03 am

riggs says:
also for some odd reason, the celts do wayyyyy better against western conference teams than east.

Jun.2 at 9:11 am

Hursty says:
isnt it bobcats vs. blazers BET?

Jun.2 at 9:20 am

BETCATS says:
no. Dont tell me what it is. as Robert ‘PP’ Kelly says ‘Dont ask me what my name is, stupid b!tch i am famous.’

Jun.2 at 9:29 am

Hursty says:
bet you have an amazing world ownage plan and you havent blogged it!?!?! DUDE!

Jun.2 at 9:36 am

BETCATS says:
broham, i dont have time right now. I got what us martians call ‘exams’ on mars

Jun.2 at 9:41 am

Hursty says:
how old are you BET?

Jun.2 at 9:43 am

Hursty says:
wtf is ‘broham’ anyways? some obscure nickname you dredged up?

Jun.2 at 9:44 am

B. Long says:
If Kobe doesn’t throw a skyhook over KG at some point in this series I’m gonna be really disappointed. I,m also requesting that they wear their throwbacks with updated shorts length thru out the series. Lakers in 5.

Jun.2 at 9:47 am

BETCATS says:
broham, why are you asking questions. 15, 16 in october. If i wanted to complete a survery i wouldve gone somewhere else.

Jun.2 at 9:48 am

Hursty says:
I reckon Odom is more likely to flip one in, seems more like his sorta play :) Also, I remember Pau throwing in a game winner a while back for Memphis that was a rolling hook….

Jun.2 at 9:51 am

Hursty says:
because if there were no questions there would be no answers and the world would fall down off its axis and then steve nash would kick it to CP3, who would then proceed to shrink the ball and give it to Mr. NC state in a replacement for the ball(s) he removed while at Wake Forest.

Jun.2 at 9:53 am

BETCATS says:
dont bring your philospy broham. I will bring mine. ‘if their are seven h0es and 1 me, we are fittin to have a h0down!’ Or simply ‘fu(k you you little fu(kheaded fu(kface mcfu(k’

Jun.2 at 9:54 am

B. Long says:
@Hursty:?

Jun.2 at 9:55 am

peteb80 says:
Uck both these motheruckin teams.

Jun.2 at 9:56 am

Hursty says:
how….enlightening BET. Notice that I tried to mention NC in that though :)

Jun.2 at 9:57 am

B. Long says:
How bout them Lakers! I fully expect Trevor Ariza to come out of nowhere and have a huge impact in this series, especially defensively against PP. By the way, those beat LA chants are gonna come back to haunt P Double when he rolls into Staples down 0-2. Bet on it.

Jun.2 at 9:59 am

BETCATS says:
i saw that. now its my turn. NC NC NC NC NC NC STATE. We will stand on the rim agian (see Cozell McQueen if you dont understand).

Jun.2 at 10:00 am

BETCATS says:
B. Long, i think the Lakeshow is becoming a dynasty. When Bynum and Ariza come back, it is a wrap like chrismas gift paper.

Jun.2 at 10:00 am

B. Long says:
As much as I hate to admit it, KG will probably lead this series with the most screams and chest beats. There is just no way to stop those facets of his game.

Jun.2 at 10:03 am

BETCATS says:
as long as the Lakers lead the series with wins (4) then its all fun and games.

Jun.2 at 10:03 am

B. Long says:
I take it pete80 is either a Spurs aka Team Social Security fan or a Pistons aka Sheed really don’t give a fu(k fan. Sorry dude, better luck in 2025.

Jun.2 at 10:03 am

Hursty says:
@ blong- intended for BET. Pete cant type swearwords. also @ blong- the Pau, Odom skyhook part is at you.

Jun.2 at 10:05 am

Froggiestyle says:
I think the most interesting matchup will be what LA does against Perk da Herk, aka Perkules the Hercules - if he goes off it could be very tricky for LA - Pau cant stop him, Odom maybe, but I’d laugh to see fellow Froggie Ronny try and guard him…

Jun.2 at 10:06 am

B. Long says:
I think Phil Jackson is gonna flick Pau in that fleshy spot where his nuts used to be so many times between now and thurs. that he’s gonna have a grown man game in game one. Bet on it.

Jun.2 at 10:06 am

Hursty says:
nah BET, I got you, got the pic at home. If Ariza gets off the inactive/injury/coaches angry list that’ll be an achievement in itself.

Jun.2 at 10:07 am

marcgar says:
boston is not going to la down 0-2. thats just stupid for you to say. celtics in 6

Jun.2 at 10:07 am

peteb80 says:
No, man. I hate every team. I’m a field handball fanatic.

Jun.2 at 10:08 am

Hursty says:
Like he did with Bill Cartwight blong? A froggie- your weird, also those names are really lame. Perakles was gay with Achilles.

Tariq says:
Is the universe really infinite?

Jun.2 at 10:09 am

BETCATS says:
Lakers are the better team from the better conference

Jun.2 at 10:10 am

Hursty says:
marcgar- read RICO on the old(but new)thing with 200+ comments. thats stupid.

Jun.2 at 10:12 am

Tariq says:
I’ve been hearing a lot about how thwe Lakers should be worried about Perk. Really? Kendrick Perkins?! I mean, he can play and he had that monster game 5 against Detroit, but c’mon now. P.S. Co-sign, Sam, regarding the massive ZenMaster/Doc mismatch. That’s like a CP3/Parker mismatch. and by “Parker”, I mean “Smush”, not “Tony”.

Jun.2 at 10:12 am

Hursty says:
Is Tariq really here? or is it total chaos theory? betcats offsets tariq. which= obscure references to Iron Maiden. ‘run to the hills’. what?

Jun.2 at 10:13 am

BETCATS says:
Tariq!. I havent talked to you in a minute.

Jun.2 at 10:15 am

Froggiestyle says:
I know, I know he’s just Perk, BUT when he has a big game, he has a really big game. Not sayin its gonna happen all the time, but for me he’s the x-factor for the Celts (assuming Ray ray doesnt’ go MIA). PS. if nothing else the C’s shouldn’t win if only to prevent friggin Sam Cassel to get a ring he dont deserve. Imagine Chuck has none but ET cassel has one - just plain BS

Jun.2 at 10:17 am

BETCATS says:
Perk can play good, but i think the Celtics X-Factor off the bench is either Sam or Leon Powe.

Jun.2 at 10:18 am

Broham says:
ET already has one with the rockets me thinks…. correct me otherwise.

Jun.2 at 10:18 am

Hursty says:
ET already has one with the rockets me thinks…. correct me otherwise….

Jun.2 at 10:20 am

Hursty says:
but since neither of them played its a moot point. however they both played against the hawks and it is Doc Rivers coaching, still hasnt got a rotation.

Jun.2 at 10:22 am

TADOne says:
Perkins>>>Radmanovic,Mbenga, Turiaf

Jun.2 at 10:22 am

BETCATS says:
im a gummy bear

Jun.2 at 10:23 am

BETCATS says:
rethink that tad. Perkins>>>>Mbenga

Jun.2 at 10:23 am

Hursty says:
what BET? Tad- is that better than or worse. I think its better but I forget.

Jun.2 at 10:26 am

Kadavour says:
@Tariq: Smush would matchup better against cp3 than Tony Longoria.

Jun.2 at 10:27 am

Hursty says:
Perk is part of the 03′ draft class too. He must be good. Stupid C’s and P2 decided to play good in 02′. Wrong year.

Jun.2 at 10:28 am

Hursty says:
Kadavour- thats a poor joke.

Jun.2 at 10:29 am

Hursty says:

Jun.2 at 10:29 am

marcgar says:
husrty: it was idiotic. but he’s just like some of the lakers fans in here saying lakers in five. lets all be real this series is going atleast six

Jun.2 at 10:29 am

Hursty says:
I am a cowboy.

Jun.2 at 10:29 am

BETCATS says:
David Stern is makin it rain in my brain. He will make so much money off this

Jun.2 at 10:32 am

Hursty says:
well did we expect the lakers to beat the spurs in 5? No, but it happened. I hope for my sakes it goes 7 games though, I dont want the season to end.

Jun.2 at 10:33 am

Froggiestyle says:
If it goes 5, 6 or (lets pray) 7 - expect at least one game where KG goes off and looks like a hoops god 30, 20, 10, 4 blks. And another game where he looks overwhelmed by the fact that he’s finally made it to the finals (after years of prayer) and craps his pants as a result - missing almost every shot, cowers in the corner hoping that PP will save his ass (yet again).

Jun.2 at 10:34 am

BETCATS says:
hursty, leave Kadavour alone. Everything you type is a poor sence of hummor but i dont critize because you are my people. But everybody on this site is my people, so chill.

Jun.2 at 10:36 am

BETCATS says:
Kobe is still the greatest closer since Jordan.

Jun.2 at 10:39 am

Hursty says:
no sh!t bet. Also, even though Smush is bad, I wasnt sure whether that was a statement of truth or a joke so I assumed it was a joke. Smush is real quick and has a real good handle like CP so i figured that was what it meant.

Jun.2 at 10:39 am

BETCATS says:
ill talk to yall later

Jun.2 at 10:41 am

Hursty says:
Ok im out too. later hoops fans.

Jun.2 at 10:42 am

marcgar says:
the spurs died out in every game nobody expected the lakers in five but they were able to steal 2 games from the spurs cause they were young, fresh and hype to be playing in the wcf. this series should go 7 its going to be great to watch

Jun.2 at 10:48 am

Tariq says:
HEY BET!! Sam I Am actually has 2 rings from the Clutch City Rockets championships of 94 and 95.

Jun.2 at 10:53 am

Tariq says:
Froggie: Regarding Perk, I think I know what he’s gonna give you in the series as a whole. Probably one or two very good offensive games, and decent defense and rebounding throughout. To me, the real X-Factor for the Celtics is Rondo. Just because he does some things VERY well, but other things TURRIBLY. He can get to the basket, but he can’t finish. He plays exceleent defense and is one of the best rebounding guards, but can’t really shoot and make awful decisions at times. The only way I see the Celtics winning is if he has a phenomenal series. Which is why I’m picking the Lakers, even though I hope I’m wrong. (I won’t be mad if LA win, I just want KG and Pierce to get rings).

Jun.2 at 10:58 am

Froggiestyle says:
Tariq - you feel me on KG having a monster nite as well as a no show nite? PS. I love KG too, I’m just sending him some tuff luv ;0)

Jun.2 at 11:10 am

Tariq says:
Froggie: Regarding KG, I wouldn’t be surprised either way, but I think it has a lot to do with match-ups, which I don’t really understand. I often think of match-ups before the series in one way and then see things unfold in a completely different way.

Jun.2 at 11:12 am

Tariq says:
I mean, I wouldn’t have thought that Garnett would have had his best series against Detroit. That’s why I’m not a professional sportswriter.

Jun.2 at 11:29 am

B. Long says:
@Marcgar: I remember people saying that Lakers in 5 was stupid to say against the Spurs… now they are playing a team with no finals experience from a weaker conf. that has played 6 more games in this years playoffs than the Lakers. I don’t see how it’s stupid to assume Lakeshow in 5. This is just the beginning.

Jun.2 at 11:32 am

Tariq says:
B.Long:
Don’t worry, it’s not stupid. It may not unfold that way, but it’s not stupid to think it will.

Jun.2 at 11:44 am

marcgar says:
@B.Long: these two teams are to good to just give it up in five. kobe wont let his youngsters go out like that and the big three can taste it so bad its not gonna be easy for the lakers to win this series in five. either team can take this series in six or seven but i have to go with boston on this one. even though the lakers came from the better conf.

Jun.2 at 11:46 am

marcgar says:
thanks for making him feel better tariq. ok it may not be stupid to hope for or wish for but thats what it is, hopes and wishes

Jun.2 at 11:53 am

marcgar says:
and i said it was dumb to say boston was going to l.a. down 0-2. boston is one of the best teams at home just like the lakers.

Jun.2 at 12:11 pm

Simone Lawy says:
get it done Lakers…

Jun.2 at 12:15 pm

RV says:
i’m not sure how anyone can be sure of anything before this series has even started. The Lakers should be favored due to their consistency in the playoffs, but the C’s play will dictate how long or short this series will be. 4, 5,6, or 7 games are all possible

Jun.2 at 12:15 pm

B. Long says:
Yeah, but the Lakers are one of the best teams on the road too. I wonder if Boston starts getting blown out at home if the Boston fans will start chanting MVP for Kobe like they did last year? Kinda doubt it but it would be awesome if they did. D-Fish and Jordy are gonna put the locks on Rondo and dude is gonna squander away at least one of the first two games if not both. Those guys are probably the best defensive point guard combo in the L. They can kill ya with quick hands or savvy vet knowledge. This is gonna be fun to watch. Rondo avg. at least 6 turnovers a game before Doc pulls him for Sam I Ain’t. I can see the parade in L.A. already.

Jun.2 at 12:21 pm

44-32-24 says:
Ariza will be a factor in the Finals.

Jun.2 at 12:26 pm

Jun.2 at 12:44 pm

marcgar says:
rohndo is gonna get his a$$ handed to him by dfish and farmar. thats why i dont think boston can win in 5 and the bench for la is good but they cant do it every game and gasol is a pu**y thats why i dont think la can do it in 5 this series is gonna full of ups and downs for both teams

Jun.2 at 12:46 pm

marcgar says:
people may hate horry but he is pretty damn smart

Jun.2 at 12:53 pm

People's Princess says:
for a pu**y Gasol dismembered TD in Game 5 to the tune of 19 boards(9 offensive!!) and 4 blocks. The biggest disappointment in that series was GINOBILI.Discuss..

Jun.2 at 12:57 pm

B. Long says:
@ People’s Princess: Pau was slightly disappointing in the first 4 games but ditto about game 5. I also wrote on here after game one that if we held GiFlopbili to 12 per game Timmy could get his all day and it wouldn’t matter. It’s like a gift, like I can’t control it.

Jun.2 at 1:01 pm

B. Long says:
@Marcgar’s comment 12:44: I see you read my previous comment at 12:15 and are starting to understand my philosiphy on this series. Good for you! Now you need to explain to me how the Celtic’s bench is better than the Lakers because anyone who has watched both teams play and does’nt wear a helmet would disagree.

Jun.2 at 1:09 pm

marcgar says:
@peoples princess: ginobilis injuries were played down by him and pop he admitted after the series it was the worst he’s ever felt in the playoffs. and it wasnt just his nail his ankle is jacked. and ya gasol is a pu**y he has to get spoon fed under the basket. he couldnt do anything against td his 12 of those rebounds he was by himslef that was just poor play by the spurs. and 20 rebounds a gaim is common for td. so dont get all happy for one game of 19 rebounds

Jun.2 at 1:09 pm

People's Princess says:
I’m just saying that might be one of the more clutch performances of this year ‘Offs that’s gone completely unnoticed.Granted Timmeh got a trip-dub but 19 caroms and 4 blocks!!! Thats quintessential dominating big-man line…

Jun.2 at 1:12 pm

AD25 says:
Ray ray is gonna kill this sh*t! Probably not, but wouldn’t that be nice

Jun.2 at 1:12 pm

marcgar says:
i never said bostons bench is better than the lakers, theres no contest for there. the lakers bench is better. i think i just said it wrong on that comment, my bad

Jun.2 at 1:15 pm

People's Princess says:
I am getting all giddy because that line was against the Greatest PF Ever by a player who’s been described as the softest Euro EVER.Funnily enough, under Fratello and Hubie,Pau was actually lauded as one of the tougher Euros for his propensity to willingly go into the low-block and play like TD-Lite.So he’s traded to us and his perception suddenly changes?? Gimme a break.

Jun.2 at 1:17 pm

RockTheBoat says:
STEAL? What a joke this series is over, Lakers win.

Jun.2 at 1:19 pm

marcgar says:
dominating? i dont think so. it was a good game for him.

Jun.2 at 1:21 pm

People's Princess says:
Dude Chauncey plays the game of his life coming back from a suspect hammy. Its the playoffs man, toughen. What Manu couldn’t initiate the offense and have Tony zip under a TD screen and make something happen? Need I mention,Kobe? Its not a matter of being injured, its about having the ability to change certain facets of one’s game to ensure that one’s effectiveness is maintained.Gino flat-out sucked in that aspect.

Jun.2 at 1:21 pm

marcgar says:
no body watched gasol play until he was traded to la. this series just showed how weak he his against real big men and gasol didnt get all those rebounds over timmy your giving his rebounds too much credit

Jun.2 at 1:23 pm

People's Princess says:
A line of 12-19-4 by Dwight would be par for the course.CB4 or Amare with that line against Tim would be lauded for having the PF torch passed onto them.

Jun.2 at 1:24 pm

marcgar says:
kobe just has a finger nail injury he even said that ginobilis finger nail was nasty and chauncey sat out to let his injury heal ginobili didnt. and ginobili didnt have a sprained ankle its more complicated than that

Jun.2 at 1:25 pm

B. Long says:
Pau’s definitely coming into this series with a chip on his shoulder…and for the Lakers that is a good thing.

Jun.2 at 1:27 pm

B. Long says:
Kobe actually has ligiment and tendon damage but I guess thats the same as his finger nail. I’m not a doctor or anything…

Jun.2 at 1:27 pm

marcgar says:
i’ll admit ginobili did horrible but you praising gasol for one ok game and a weak series is just hillariou. timmy is by far a better pf then gasol

Jun.2 at 1:28 pm

marcgar says:
B.Long: that i didnt know.

Jun.2 at 1:29 pm

People's Princess says:
no,KB’s pinky has undergone a ligament tear.Way,way more painful than a nail injury. It damn near required him to sit out the last quarter of the season.Prominent surgeons advised immediate surgery.Look it up.And I counter your ankle inury with KB’s back spasms against Utah.Your move…

Jun.2 at 1:35 pm

People's Princess says:
Dude like I said Timmeh is the Greatest PF Ever, bar none. When they draw up an all-time NBA starting 5,his would be the first position I would pencil in,bar perhaps MJ.But to punk Gasol after having hailed his consistent performances in Mem.And Memphis did make the ‘Offs three years in a row with him as the lynchpin. And as I recall,Hubie’s 10-man Rotation From Hell was one of the more enjoyable sights in pro ball, back in the day.

Jun.2 at 1:35 pm

marcgar says:
your talking about injuries now. 80% of the league plays with injuries. what happen to you praising gasol for his weak performance. injuries are part of the game. like i said ginobili played like crap but your making it seem like he just sucked. his injury were fresh still he didnt have time to heal. if you can praise gasol for one ok game then ginobli is god for his great game 3

Jun.2 at 1:38 pm

marcgar says:
sure he might have been good with memphis and in the season with the lakers but his weakness has been shown. he cant deal with the real big man of the league. anyone else gasol will dominate but timmy kg and maybe even sheed he just cant get it done

Jun.2 at 1:41 pm

B. Long says:
He’s gonna suprise you against KG.

Jun.2 at 1:43 pm

People's Princess says:
Of course they play with injuries but Gasol didn’t have 4 stinkers out of 5,like Gino did.And since his injuries don’t counr, what’s his excuse now? Lakers’s perimeter D better than Ed Scissorhand’s D???

Jun.2 at 1:43 pm

marcgar says:
it wouldnt suprise me cause all he has to do is become more physical down low. even jackson said he was throwing up little weenie shots. and not being tough

Jun.2 at 1:47 pm

marcgar says:
the lakers d did good but look who bowen was covering. i still think bowen is one of the best one on one defenders in the league but lets be real. who’s gonna stop kobe… no one you just cant compare bowen covering kobe to anyone from the laker having to cover ginobili, barry or parker.

Jun.2 at 1:53 pm

People's Princess says:
Dude Gino was lighting up the entire Lig to the tune of 20-5-4 in about 30 mins.’Offs he murdered Nawlins. The point is it’s not Gino’s fault to have become injured. His fault was not adapting to his game sufficiently to have a positive or atleast neutral impact on the game. Why the hell would you wanna drive to the hoop repeatedly when you know you have a bum wheel, against Sasha who’s known to be one of the more peskier and annoying defenders out there?? The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different outcome each time.

Jun.2 at 2:00 pm

marcgar says:
peoples princess i totally agree. as a spurs fan how do you think i felt watching the game. i was pissed off. you know you’ve lost a step cause your hurt find a different way to impact the game. but thats just ginobili being ginobili he puts alot on himself when he doesnt have to. hes a passionate player

Jun.2 at 2:04 pm

Brandon Hoffman says:
“Put it this way, the biggest mismatch in the Finals is Phil Jackson vs. Doc Rivers.” I agree.

Jun.2 at 2:05 pm

Brandon Hoffman says:
Fifteen of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players in 1996 were players from the Los Angeles Lakers or Boston Celtics. That’s 30%. The more you know…

Jun.2 at 2:41 pm

B. Long says:
These two teams have also won 31 out of a possible 65 championships.

Jun.2 at 3:07 pm

Rico says:
@marcgar….ginobli would have performed better in the lakers series if he had enlisted in hair club for men earlier in the season….going bald is effecting his confidence.

Jun.2 at 3:08 pm

Rico says:
@Brandon Hoffman…who do you think has the upperhand in this “mismatch”? The Doc or PJ? I’m not sure that’s the biggest mismatch.

Jun.2 at 3:35 pm

B. Long says:
@Rico: I’d guess that the guy with nine rings has the upperhand but only if we’re talking about winning a championships.

Jun.2 at 3:36 pm

B. Long says:
If we are talking about who has the better tan, Doc Rivers is owning Phil in that category.

@Rico: If you can’t close the Hawks out in 5 games at max, you ain’t winning one ring, much less nine.

B. Long says:
@Rico: Just so you know, the Lakers have to go by the same salary cap as the rest of the league. So comparing them to the Yankees should require you to wear a helmet while outdoors.

@B. Long….I understand the salary cap…I also understand that some teams can enter the tax threshold and pay for exceeding the “cap”….the few teams that do this are the ones that can afford it…ala - LA! I’m not saying it’s exactly like the Yankee ordeal…but damn, you know they spend the most because they make the most. I want PJ to prove himself by coaching a mediocre team from this season next year…let’s see what his mastermind can accomplish. A good coach can make something out of nothing. He wouldn’t have to win another ring to gain my respect, just improve the team noticebly.

albie1kenobi says:
two reasons why lakers will win it: phil jackson and kobe bryant. that’s what i been trying to tell people at the complete mismatch of coaching. you have someone who’s been there, done that NINE times versus someone who everyone said needed to be fired as recent as this past summer. does the phrase “champion coach doc rivers” even sound right? there’s no true leader in the celtics locker room who can take the team to the promise land, while lakers have two of them. last but not least i’d like to remind everyone that lakers lost THREE games in this playoffs, while celtics lost the same amount of games in ROUND ONE against the hawks.
i don’t want the lakers to win (call me a hater) but facts are facts. lakers in 5 (6 if celts can hold serve during the first 2 games).

Jun.2 at 6:26 pm

albie1kenobi says:
Rico, why would phil jackson care about if you respect him or not? he has the most rings among coaches not named Red, and has the highest winning percentage as a coach for BOTH regular season and post season. it takes a certain type of coach to lead a championship team, so the fact that people discount his accomplishment saying he rides on great players coattail (i.e. jordan/shaq) are just being blind. let’s put it this way: jordan didn’t win a ring without pjax and shaq only won an extra ring under another well-established champ coach (we may also add that shaq didn’t really win it; wade’s free throws did).

I’ll wait till Tuesday before I start giving out my predictions. I’m sorry it is just too early right now. I have to sleep on it. Lakers in 6.

@Rico- Yes I have a problem with your comments. 1. You say things that are irrashional without any thought of the stupidity of what you are saying as seen yesterday. e.g ‘The celtics lost on purpose’. that is fu(king stupid. 2. You yourself admit that you dont know a lot about basketball, yet you persist in stating flawed views that have no stastical evidence. DO you watch the games? Do you read the game recaps? 3. Your a newbie. A rookie. A marshmellow. Your new. To question a supreme intellect such as PP, Betcats,DP, mysef or even (hits himslef in head for saying this) B. Fu(king Long is silly. 4. Stay and post on here. I like to rebut and sh!t all over what you say smply because I’m being a dick. thankyou :) P.S dot take this too harshly, its a process.

Joel O's says:
@Rico: The Lakers win because “they spend the most because they make the most”? By that logic the Knicks would’ve had at least 3 rings over the last 8 years. Also, “a good coach can make something out of nothing”? Which team in the NBA Finals over the last 2 decades didn’t have at least one or two ridiculously good players? If you’re referring to Doc Rivers’ 1999 run, that may have been pretty awesome, but the talent level in the Eastern conference back then paled in comparison to today. The top 3 teams in the East then were the aging and gimpy Heat and Pacers and the Knicks.

Jun.2 at 11:51 pm

Joel O's says:
Also, Phil Jackson HAS been coaching a mediocre team - the Lakers, who’ve been pretty mediocre over the last 3 or so years, barely making the playoffs and then getting bounced by the Suns again and again. As much as we credit the Lakers’ current success to Kobe’s growth and Gasol’s arrival, Phil Jackson’s been the guy slowly putting the pieces together over the last few years… on pretty damn mediocre teams with no serious hope of a championship, honestly.

@Hursty: Those shorts are nasty but the same jersey style with updated shorts length is exactly what they should be wearing thurs. So Fresh, So Clean.

Hursty says:
@blong_- I really like the laker uniform with the longer shorts, it just works. Like ‘The Bay’ GSW one.
