Pierce wasn’t snubbed there were just too many good players at that position for him to make the squad. He’s not makin’ the team over Melo or Bron. Besides, Team USA plays defense and P Double is not known for his defense. He did a decent job on LeBron, but that was more about Bron missing layups and the C’s help defense than about Pierce’s one-on-one defense.

Agreed, Gumdrop. Melo’s attitude isn’t always bad, and hopefully with the group of guys around him, it’ll be okay, but that group won’t help his one on one defense.

Chukaz: So, Pierce won’t make the team over Melo, since he isn’t known for his defense? Huh? Even if we disregard the fact Pierce was one of the three best defenders on possibly the best defensive team ever, how does this equation work with Melo? He is, after all, one of most lackadaisical defenders in the NBA. Maybe I shouldn’t've even bothered answering.

Now that they have Kobe on the squad it doesn’t matter who they have or don’t have. They will win gold because Kobe will not accept losing to those inferior teams. Without Kobe, as we saw two summers ago, anything would be possible.

Anyways enough time spent on you…Pierce wasn’t snubbed…he just really isn’t needed and if there was a spot…he REALLY ISN’T NEEDED!!! You see he doesn’t play well with other good players in crunch time except in game 7’s, but even then the other good players won’t get touches because he becomes the black hole!!! There are no game 7’s in the Olympics so once again….HE IS NOT NEEDED!!! LOL…now on to bigger and better things…Is it me or does it seem blah around here without omar’s gangster corner!!!!? Oh and we need to step the kicks of the day section up (because there are better shoes out there to be scrutinized)

There is this kid in Kenya called Mike Kongani.He is 6 ft but has 45″ vertical and can be best shooter ever(90% fts 60 fgs 55 3pts).He is unstoppable 1 on 1 both on offense and defense.He could be better than ricky rubio but he is underrated.He is 20,though,older than rubio but definitely better than rubio and should be #1 pick 2010 draft cuz hes comin to US in 2009.He hit 16 for 19 threes one game(12 straight) and scored 75 points,had 18 rebs,15 assists,13 steals and 10 blocks.Another game he dunked on a 7 footer…from 13(or 12.5)feet out.Hes probably too small 4 a 2guard in the NBA but he could be a small 2 like AI.If you want links to his Youtube videos (watch him hit 30 for 34 threes as a 9 year old and perform an mjesque dunk from 13ft out,etc)just ask.

Props to Pierce for even considering it. Esp. given that George Karl threw him under the bus after the World Championship losses. After a long playoff run, PP will need the rest. Melo should be all fresh after his early exit.
