Carmelo’s Rough Year Continues
It has been a rather forgettable year for Carmelo Anthony. Following his great success on Team USA last summer, little has gone right for the soon-to-be 24 year old.
Despite their talent, Anthony’s Nuggets barely made the Playoffs, and once there, they absolutely stunk up the joint. There was the humiliating DUI arrest just before the season ended, and now, he’s got another (albeit, minor) legal matter to deal with.
Nuggets all-star forward Carmelo Anthony was ticketed for speeding last weekend, Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson confirmed Tuesday.
Jackson said Anthony was driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone Saturday at 4:13 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Santa Fe Drive.
The good news for ‘Melo is that he will not have to appear in court and can just pay the ticket through the mail.
Word of advice to Carmelo Anthony: Disappear for the next few months, and hope that everyone forgets what an absolute nightmare this season has been.

Melo needs a fresh start and Denver needs to blow this team up. See you in Memphis or Minnesota next year Melo.

Nguni says:
Melo is def not doing so well in Denver. That team could be great if they played some defense and the right way. The way it is right now, looks like he is not a model franchise player.

How is this news? Who doesn’t get a speeding ticket? I hate how everybody in our society is a hypocrit!

he’s soon to be irrelevant. with his supposedly great work ethnic, i don’t understand how he just never seem to get better. karl has to shoulder a lot of blame for not making his team play in a system, and the GM has to be blamed for bringing in another high volume scorer, but it’s all on melo with his terrible off-court trouble, which doesn’t help his on court play. i’m still not ready to jump on his bandwagon but damn dude, wuts going on with you, melo?

I thought when you got pulled over for a DUI, they automatically take your license from you until the court date?

G Diesel - I agree. How is someone going 15 over the speed limit news worthy? We really love to kick people while they’re down. God forbid this basketball website actually posted news..like who won yesterday’s playoff game. But you’re right, Starbury forgetting to look left, right, then left again before crossing the street is a HOT TOPIC.

I took two food samples at Costco when the sign clearly said ‘One Per Customer’. Someone call the newspaper! Lock me up! I need to lay low and let this all blow over. Has Lang stopped doing game recaps now that the Hawks are out of it?

That’s another pretty crappy jab at not much of anything, Marcel. You are so much better than that, brother.

He’s lucky he has a license after his DUI. Period. Then you’d think he’d brighten up and follow the law a bit more closely. Then again, some people need to learn the hard way.

Not sure how they do things out in Colorado, but out here in CA his license would have physically been taken from him and immediately been suspended with the DUI arrest. Maybe Cub can enlighten us as to how things go out there.

How is getting a speeding ticket adding on to your “tough year” if you’re a multi-million dollar athlete? I make five figures per (mid five I might add), and I could easily pay that and not sweat it. If he stubs his toe tomorrow are you gonna add to this column?…..and for those of you saying Melo’s game is slipping, you must not have League Pass. Watch the dude play, seriously.

Who really cares if the boy is in trouble? I think its stupid that fans grill players for getting in trouble, its really none of our business if they are out sleeping with strippers and driving fast on the weekends. The only thing We should be concerned with is if they are delivering on the court. The rest of it is some down right trivial sh*t

tealish says:
Whah: I want to “get over it”. But even though the last Nugget game I watched was over a week ago, I can’t get the image of Melo sucking out of my mind. Really makes you wonder, was the Melo with the US team the real Melo? Or this current one… Sigh, I feel bad for AI is all.
May.7 at 3:45 pm

And I don’t care if he goes 160 in a 45. I’m only frustrated with his game and his lack of heart.

Getting swept is disappointing, but its hard to see how a fifty win season can be called an absolute nightmare. As for Melo, not only should he remain in the limelight, he should threaten his organization with trade talk (a la Kobe bryant) and force the Nugs to trade for a strong post player. Kenyon Martin for Jermaine Oneil? sounds good to me…
