Vince Carter Went Under the Knife
VC had right ankle surgery to remove a bone spur. He should be ready to go for training camp.

Does anyone remember when this guy was really good and players feared him? He’s slowly developing the Stevie Franchise complex of
complete obscurity.

Reading these comments make me think. Will we ever accept the fact that even superstars age?
Apr.24 at 2:57 pm
tealish says:
Whahuh: The answer is no. We were spoiled with his ridiculous feats. Guess when people were screaming how insane and humanly impossible the things that VC did, they were expecting him to continue to do it on the regular late into his career. Merely a couple gravity defying dunks a week = a soft and hated Vince.

Superstars age. But they don’t go out without a fight. That’s why VC is hated.

the way ppl talk about Vince, you would think he was completely washed up. Yet, he was one of only 3 players in the league who averaged 21/6/5 (others were Kobe and Bron). I guess it has to do with the expectations we have for VC and know that he can bring so much more that when he settles, we’re all disappointed. Hedo / Ginobli post career season in stats and everyone is all over them, yet their numbers this season would represent Carter’s worst year statistically.

Not quite, Tealish. VC plays joyless ball, reverted to jump shooting when he could still leap over befuddled Euros, and classlessly sulked his way out of Toronto. Even if Half-Man-Half-a-Season couldn’t do the things he once did, he could give a crap, drive to the hoop now and then, and play through his hangnails.

I agree with Paps. The usual aging process in basketball us; Age up / Athleticism down / Savy and Knowledge of the Game up. Not; Age up / Athleticism down / Savy and Knowledge down. Why Vince can’t jump higher is obvious. Why he can’t get to the rack easier another.

Mike says:
You guys do realize that he was playing literally the whole season on an ankle with bone spurs, loose bodies, and a bunch of dead tissue which had to be removed via debridement(look it up, it aint pretty). I cant understand how people still hate on this guy when all he does is keep ballin. There were three people in the entire NBA this season to average 20+ppg, 6+rpg, and 5+apg, two were kobe and LeBron, the other was Vince. Another thing, if you actually watch Nets games you would know that VC attempted almost three fewer shots per game compared to last season which expains the four point drop in points.
Apr.24 at 5:01 pm
Mike says:
Oh and at tenorca, go look at Vinces games played the last three years if your gonna say that. The guy could have shut it down way early this year but he played through his torn up ankle…you guys who think he doesnt have heart are either idiots or completley ignorant
Apr.24 at 5:06 pm
FLUXLAND says:
I don’t care if he played with a broken back.. and stats don’t equal heart. Quitting and traitorship will never be forgiven in the Great White North. How Nets fans are not miffed at what he has done to them baffles me as well.
Apr.24 at 5:14 pm
Jess says:
baffles me as well..I dont understand how they could even defend him right now. He should have shut it down. Vince Carter has pretty much given up on the game of basketball, and it started IN Toronto…..not after
Apr.24 at 5:51 pm
Mike says:
Wow you clearly did not watch one Nets game then this season….Go read all the quotes from thorn, kiki, and L-Frank about how VC took control of the team after Kidd got traded and become the unquestioned leader…You guys all just see his scoring dipping so you assume he has no heart, which is pretty fuked up if you ask me
Apr.24 at 6:08 pm
FLUXLAND says:
Mike… does it not bother you at all how he showed up after Kidd left? How he chooses when he gonna play.. usually when it makes him loook good even if the team loses? And we know he has no heart..he disrespected the game, the fans and the city the way he exited our city. And I have seen more then a few Nets games… trust me.. the TV stations make sure we get our dose of VC every year.. there are ppl that still worship the guy up here.

weird.. for once Jess…we agree.

Its not Stevie Franchise fault he got traded for a top 5 talent in the league to Orlando. tmac, shaq, kobe, Iverson and Duncan/Garnett. When he went to the knicks is when trouble started.

The Promise says:
You people see the shape that Vince Carter is in? Hes relied on althleticism his whole career without really gettin a jumpshot…now hes always hurt because he has to drive to the hoop so much, therfore he takes more contact and has a better chance of getting injured more…this is the shape that LeBron James will be in if he doesnt get a jumpshot…you cannt drive to the hoop your whole career…you have to shoot it some…

Hey vin-sanity, im the ONLY VC fan i know seriously but, dont play the “heart” card unless your’e talkin about a 5′11 guard who has to wear new kicks every time he play because his ankles are so weak……yeah, I’m talkin about Iverson

tealish says:
It’s easy to hate VC because he amazed us with so many things we had never seen before and now we don’t see those things as often, but let’s allow a little common sense to prevail.
The way he shut it down in TO was unprofessional, I get it. But I am sure there are plenty of other stars who turn their game and effort down a notch when it looks like they’re fighting for a lost cause. Now, none of these other stars were as brutally honest and stupid enough to announce that fact to the world, but I’m sure they exist.
Take KG as an example. That man’s heart should never be questioned, but do you really think he gave it 100% in his final days as a Timberwolf? Just compare the level of intensity he plays with now and the way he played in those frustrating seasons in Minny. You could argue he gave it 100% in Minny, and 110% now in Boston…but the fact is, he is giving more now and that is not uncommon in this L.
So hate Vince if you want, call him Wince, call him half-man-half-a-season, and any other clever moniker you can think of — but just keep in mind that he wasn’t the only one who played with less than full effort and as of right now (well, before the reg season ended)he probably plays harder than most.

AC says:
VC was a victim of the expectations thrust on him… He was supposed to carry an organization like Mike… Bring the gold up North like Jumping Joe did for the Jays and do so with a hockey toughness. He failed and it ate at him. He lost the love for the game for a while and shut er down until he ended up in the Swamp. He’ll never what we thought he could be. He doesn’t have the toughness needed to be a true leader, but he is still damn good.

VC was drafted by fifth by the Warriors not raptors. I don’t know why all them raptor fans hating on VC they got the best of him so why the hell did all of you wait till his game started loosing a half step to talk all that mess. When your half amazing you got a lot of steps to lose so why don’t you just cry about how your teams about to get knocked out of the playoffs instead.
