The End of Shawn Marion’s Season
Foot pain has put an end to Shawn Marion’s topsy-turvy year.
With seven games remaining in the nightmare commonly referred to as the 2008 Miami Heat basketball season, The Matrix has had just about enough.
Coach Pat Riley said Thursday that Marion will have Ossatron treatments, the application of electrical shock waves, to treat plantar fasciitis in his left foot and heel.
“We’ve got to do what we’ve got do to get healthy for next season,” Marion said. “That’s the best thing for now.”
If you had spent the last few years of your career getting deep into the Playoffs, and playing in some of the most memorable games in League history, only to end up in Miami, you’d probably want to shut it down, too.
The Heat are missing so many of their regulars at this point, that most of the active roster could probably walk around the city completely unmolested. Which is probably for the best.

Hmm Eboy, isn’t this good for the Heat though? It would be even worse if he had kept playing, inexplicably caught fire and won some games, hurting the Heat’s lottery chances. It kinda sucks to see the Heat languish like this after more than a decade of consistently having proud and competitive teams.

Wonder if Marion would have been sat out of the playoffs if he had plantar fascitis in Phoenix? Actually, no, I don’t.

Marion, in my opinion, has long been overrated. He actually believed he was one of the best SF’s of all-time? Get the fk outta here with that bullsh*t.

Harlem_World says:
Marion is a utility guy. Can be beneficial for your club if you have 2 other stars in front of him. He is not an offensive threat in isolation and has the ugliest jumper since Frank Lusetti brought the 1 handed jump shot into the mainstream. His skill set is flawed. A great rebounder and good defender, but no way is he one of the best of all time.

unique as a player though. a freak of Dantoni’s system. He was playing the 3 with steph, amare JJ.

“Anyone still think Phoenix got shafted in the Shaq/Matrix trade now?” Definitely. Shafted and screwed for the next two years. If you’re saying you wish you had The Big Blowhard back in Miami, you’re welcome to him. He talks big and that’s about it. The Suns haven’t looked this bad in a long time and they won’t be looking better any time soon. My guess is the Heat will have a good 2008-09 season and surprise a lot of people.
