L.A’s Other Team: A Disaster
While the Lakers continue to roll (they’re in a virtual tie with the Spus atop the Western Conference), their Staples Center neighbors are playing out the string of yet another disappointing season.
To compound the perennial losing, the head coach and team owner continue to be at each other’s throats.
The coach and the owner aren’t talking. The owner says the coach picks the players, then rejects a trade. One player (Sam Cassell) is leaving. Two others (Corey Maggette and Elton Brand) have a choice to leave.
Then, when the conversation turned to the Clippers’ terrible performance, Sterling went off on coach Mike Dunleavy. It was pretty similar to what he said a few weeks back, blaming Dunleavy for the selection of players and saying that Dunleavy, not general manager Elgin Baylor, had the final say on every player on the roster. Every single one. Why, Sterling wondered, if the players were picked by the coach, did they not play for the coach?
So, Elton and Shaun, tell us again why you want to step back on the court this season for this team.

They should have never signed Tim Thomas. His fugazi karma ruined them.

Love of the game, perhaps? You don’t know how much you miss something until you can’t do it. And Sesa, they’ll still be getting paid, despite being injured.

Note to Donald Sterling: The Clippers were a sucky team long before Big Dun got there. Why should he get the blame for something that’s been (for the most part) ongoing for the past 15 years or better? He wasn’t there through all of that. I wonder who was?

i think the only reason elton and shaun want to come back is so they can put up big numbers so big numbers will be put up on a new contract because no one in their right mind will sign somebody who didnt even get to play a whole season for 20 million per. or somebody who with that much height at his position will get at least 5 per because he keeps gettin hurt.

Plain and simple the Clippers are a doomed/cursed franchise.
You don’t bury a dead loved-one in an ancient Indian Burial Ground and then blame your SHOVEL when they return to life a morbid shell of their earthly selves.
Get off Dunleavy! Also, besides the injuries, they just have the misfortune of playing against the West.

Elton shouldn’t opt out–he should make them CT last big C. And maybe get traded to a contender in the process.

One glimpse of the playoffs two years ago gave such hope. You can blame all three of them though. Dunleavy fights with all of the players and runs offenses that just aren’t suitable to his players. Elgin makes no in season moves and skates by because no one else wants the job. And Sterling refuses to sign the few good players that the team has.

Nice one, CoolWhip11 (though I’m not saying anything about the moniker…). Also, it’s nice to be reminded every once in a while that Dolan isn’t the only complete trainwreck of an owner.
